Why do people have issues using Audigy 2 ZS and Creative X-fi xtreme music sound cards with this game?

I have a creative x-fi xtreme music and I cannot play this game unless I disable the sound card. Any ideas?

have you guys tried this? i have audigy 2 too and now it works for me:

1) open notepad and forget it to background at this point
2) Run far cry 2 to menu
3) when menu has loaded, hit alt + enter
4) far cry 2 is now windowed
5) try to continue from main menu to actual game play by clicking new game or continue or load game
6) Loading icon at left upper conrer is running smoothly, when it starts to lag badly, switch to notepad.
7) while you are in notepad the game should load normally on background.
8) happy gaming.

Fought with this POC product many hours yesterday. Couldn't make it work.

It's early morning here and gotta go to work soon.

Tried disabling my SB Audigy and it works (no sound though).

Someone on this thread mentioned about eax.dll-fix. I enabled my SB Audigy and replaced eax.dll. It worked! I quit the game and now the 2nd run is on - and it works.
This eax.dll might be the right fix for me. Time will tell.

AMD Athlon 64 4000+
SB Audigy 4
Geforce 7600GT 256Mb
2Gb RAM

I have the same problem, it goes away when I disable my Trust soundcard (which uses the CMedia CMI8738 chipset found on many motherboards).

I have an Intel E8500 and nvidia geforce 8800 GTS graphics on Windows XP. I can't play this in silence!!

So it's not a soundblaster problem...

My System windows xp pro sp 3
Amd athlon 64 4000+
3072 memory
Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT
Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
Followed each of the suggestions and the only way I could get it to load was to disable the sound card and even then the game crashes on the jeep ride to where ever we are going.
This long and there still hasn't been an official update or post on how to fix the problem?

Scratch the above I got it to run by following the advice in the online readme file.
"To work around the problem, reduce the Hardware acceleration slider to 'Basic'
in the Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Audio tab->Advanced->Performance
tab."
My sound may be basic but I have sound.

Scratch the scratch. The game crashed on the jeep ride so I started it back up again and I'm back to the third screen. Disabled the sound card and get to the jeep ride and crash.
I've tried eax.dll, notepad, disable sound card, any other suggestions?

Uh, well, I run DX10 on XP and have been running Crysis and FC2 just fine, lol.

I've been having recent problems with Far Cry 2, but I fixed them and it was not DX related at all.

I use Alky Project and it does indeed work...
I can enable very high via Crysis and use HDR/Bloom/AA all together in FC2, etc.

Screw Vista, it's a resource hog.

I've gone out to creative's site and no help there either.
Just someone complaining about getting pops and crackles. I just wish I could get sound when playing the game.

Goddamn you Ubifail! I am having the same problem. Running Vista 64 and on board realtek sound. Do you care to address the ****ing problem? Or can I have my money back. this is very irritating. I am very displeased with this software so far. Spent whatever I spent on it and the POS doesn't even work. If you guys don't care to drop a fix out there pretty soon, this will be the last Ubifail product I ever buy. I have been able to play many other games with my current build, but this one, I get to read the 3 splash screens before my system locks up and I have to hit reset.

I finally got the game to run. I had to use a # of things to do it.
Turning off my hardware accelerator for my sound card, using windowed mode and following the advice from curse of the jackal

Oh well, I tried the fix posted on http://www.gamecyte.com/far-cr...of-the-jackals-curse but unfortunately it didn't work for me. It was worth a shot though as it apparently does work for some folks. I'm very disappointed with Ubisoft, and I'll have to think long and hard about buying one of their games again. As a software engineer who deals w/ bug reports daily, I can't understand the lack of response from Ubisoft. Oh well, on to other things...
I hope others have better luck with getting past this problem.
