After the game hangs loading, it corrupt my nvidia menu also.
I am using the latest nvidia drivers (tried at least 3 others), plus latest directx off microsoft site. I've tried disabling audio. I have loaded latest chipset drivers.

Totally Agree with you. If i spent around 49$ on a game, i would really be pleased if I could even play the game! I have mmailed Ubisoft several times to path the game, but no answer so far. !

They mailed me back, but gave me a rather generic answer.

I got a feeling I will be talking to tech support a lot more in the coming days.

Well after 6 days and countless hours it loads.
I enabled my Audidy 2 card open 5.1 sound and changed data file/sound binary/DARA.INI/DISABLE_OPTIMISATION from TRUE to FALSE and saved. I have changed some many things it is hard to remember them all but these seemed to work at least for now.

Hey man i understand right when i got to act 2 my xbox froze and i had to turn off my xbox and then try again. It worked the second time for me though.

Ok,,same problem here; Stuck on 3:rd screen.

Though tested, turned on off my Soundcard, Audigy 2 ZS and used the internal sound on mobo:
ASUS Ac sound circuit, not Creative,,,still the same: no load, stuck on third screen.

NOW: turned off both ; game loaded in less than 30 seconds and I also put everything (graphics) on very high,,guess what: no problema, of course , no sound.

AMD 64 4000 @ 2.72
GTX 280 178.24,,( yes tested with 178.13, same result as above)
2 GB mem
XP SP 3
Audigy 2 ZS
PSU 800W

On about my 6th round with support and all I've had so far is generic solutions.

This is definitely an incompatibility with THE GAME.
I have no problems running anything else. I am running Crysis on Maximum and Dead Space on Maximum - no problems at all.

new soundcard sorted this one for me, its a shame the game hasnt been worth all the effort to be honest. Crysis blew me away and here i was expecting a crysis beater. no such luck

just want to bump it so it isn't forgotten.....

Here's a quick hint. If you've ever tried Alky or DX10 for XP, there are pretty good chances that you won't be able to run Far Cry 2, even if you try to revert back to DX9. This doesn't cover all the loading issues but it's definitely one you should look into.

And congratulations once again, they fixed a lot of issues people were having with the game with the PC patch. But (as far as I can tell), none of the issues they fixed were preventing people at least being able to play the game.

Meanwhile, this problem is still occuring after the patch, ffs I have now had the game for two weeks and have been unable to play it. And despite an uninstall, reinstall and trying 6 times it still freezes on the third loading screen YTF DIDN'T YOU FIX THIS PROBLEM!

For fixing problems, instead of going for the "easy wins" how about first of all fixing the problems that are stopping people playing the game.

mine at least worked before the patch,now it wont load at all,well done on that patch,what a piece of crap

Should say again,,I can play the game when the sound hardware is turned 'off',,but my hearing aid doesn't protect me, I get into trouble very fast...

I hitting 1 month of not being able to play the game on Tuesday 11-25.

I still cant play this ****ing game what a waste of $50, never again will i buy UBISOFT games. I have a Creative X-FI extreme music sound card and I can only play when I disable the card -- yoU STINK UBISOFT
