I'm experiencing this very same issue. I initially started out with the Nvidia 184.20 beta drivers but those were rolled back to the latest 178.24 release drivers.

My Audigy 2 ZS has the latest drivers installed from Creative. There aren't any sound glitches or choppy music.

I get to the Loading screen and the spin bar just keeps going. I haven't even had a chance to play the game yet. Different video drivers were used, sound drivers, sound hardware acceleration levels, and in-game display choices.

AMD 64-bit 4000+ CPU
Nvidia 8800 GTX Video Card
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Sound Card
Windows XP, DirectX 9.0c, Service Pack 3
4GB RAM

I have the same problem. But i can get into the game with this workaround:

1) Start far cry in windowed mode (make a shortcut to farcry2.exe and add -RenderProfile_Fullscreen 0).

2) When the game start loading open Windows proces mangement (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and set the process farcry2.exe to low priority.

3) Now jou can work in windows until the game is fully loaded.

4) Press ALT+ENTER to get into full screen mode when the game is loaded.

The strange thing is that i also use a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS with latest driver. Could it be related to this? Has anyone tried to disable the Soundcard completely or using the older driver on the creative website?

or when i'm loading a level in far cry 2 my pc is kinda stuck on the loading screen, haven't tried the alt enter though.

Iv' always set priority of fc2 to high...

**FIX**

Ok i have found the problem. It is my sound card (Soundblaster audigy 2 ZS). When i completely disable creative SB audigy 2 ZS (WDM) the game loads without problems within 20 sec!

I have disabled my soundcard in the devicemanger, i think this is the english word for it. On my pc it is called "Apparaatbeheer" (dutch) Smile

Let me know if this works for you also.

This is a bug but you can fix this your self, What i am about to say will sound crazy but the fix is crazy.. here goes o.o:

step 1. run notepad or word pad, (any lightweight application is fine) put the game in windowed mode at the menu. ( alt + enter) DO NOT ENTER WINDOWED MODE WHILE LOADING, your DXAPI WILL LOCK UP.

step 2. let the game load as normal until you see it beginning to drop frames at the load screen ( the little circular arrow becomes slow)

step 3. Alt tab to note pad to make it the active application. ( you will notice after doing this that the arrow on the load screen is no longer choppy and is now rotating smoothly, soon the music will stop playing ( stay on notepad, soon after the music stops the game screen will flash black and then you'll be in game! have fun ^^

Thanks Bartleunen! This worked for me as well.

I hope they get this figured out soon. I don't want to have to keep enable/disable -ing my Creative sound card.

I had the same problem too.

I have Soundblaster X-Fi. I disabled it and now I can play.

But I have a new problem. Now I can't hear anything. What should I do to get voices working.

I am also having this same problem, and I also have an x-FI card. I've tried contacting tech support, but so far they've just given me the form response, "update drivers, run scandisk, etc".

A other strange thing that i can conclude is that all specs posted contain a AMD (Athlon 64) processor. Could it be ralated to a Audigy 2 with an amd processor? Does anyone have this problem with an INTEL processor?

If you haven't even got as far as the menu screen, I think you have a different issue to the other people in this thread. We all get through to the menu, attempt to start the game, and then after displaying three introductory screens, get no further.
