Hi everyone,
This is more than just a Far Cry problem but I figure someone should be able to help me here as I can't find an answer through any internet search I've attempted in the last 3 hrs. My problem is I can't seem to play any of my games. I recently (about a week ago) rebuilt my computer: AMD Phenom 9600, Gigabyte MA790X-DS4, 4 gig Balistix DDR2 800, 2 X Radeon 3850 (crossfire enabled), using onboard sound RealTek HD Audio, 650W Corsair PS, 2 WD HDDs, MAD DOG CDR, NEC DVD +/- R, and Win XP Pro. Now, the first game I loaded (from CD) was Far Cry and it ran fine for this whole week. Been playin my guts out. Today I came home from work and the game would not load, did not try to load, just said I needed to install the correct CD and click "ok". Well hello, it is the correct CD. After a while of trying to get the game to run I gave up and decided to install NBA '07. No go. Won't read the CD? Like there's no data on it at all. Hmmm, from here I went online to update the firmware for my NEC 3750A (if i remember correctly) but it was already running the latest firmware, v 3.07. Oh by the way, I never hooked up the MAD DOG CDR with the IDE and power cables, it was just sitting in my case. So I shut the computer down and disconnected my NEC DVD and connected my MAD DOG CDR. Hehe, same junk. When I stick the Far Cry CD in place the computer wants to open it with WMP as an audio file. And again, my NBA '07 will not run as if there is no data on the disk at all (I hit "Explore CD" and it's blank). Also, yes. These are legitimate game disks I bought off the shelf. Now I just stare at them pulling my hair out. Any suggestions? cause I'm stuck. |

You can check to make sure the IDE cable is seated well in its sockets, or try another cable.
