Updated the guide to version 1.2. The main changes are spelt out on pages 3 and 4. Basically the 1.2 patch is causing a lot of problems, and it did so for me as well.

I would recommend people wait until Ubisoft re-release this patch (or a newer one) otherwise you may run into problems also.

After much dicking around and frustration , I have finally managed to get this game to work - stably The trick was to disable 'Write Combing' on the video card.

desktop -> settings -> advanced -> troubleshooting -> enable write combing

This may work for others with A64/Via/Radeon rigs.

The suggestion to disable this setting came from the ATI tweak guide at: TweakGuides.com

Well..does anyone know why when I get into Far Cry I can't move the mouse anywhere (only IN GAME) not in the menu..i can move around the main menu fine.) It has always worked before...this is the only game it hasn't been working on..
