I am getting this error message everytime i try to create a player match. As far as i know it hasn't happend to anyone else. And it can't be a problem with the map cause i checked 100 times. HELP ME PLEASE!
I have this problem too. No matter what I try anytime I try to create a game I get the message "failed to create match" almost immediately.
I have tried a wired connection, wireless, setting the dhcp host name, resetting my modem, router, etc... but no matter what I try the result is always the same...
Yet I have no problem hosting games in Haze, Warhawk, or GTA4.
I can create games in every single videogame i have except for Metal Gear Online and Far Cry 2.
Haze, GTA4, Skate, Call Of Duty 4, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2, Soul Calibur 4, Unreal Tournament 3, Burnout Paradise, AND Resistance.
(i have more games than that. Those are just the ones i have that are online. If you really want to know what other games i have then just ask. I am not trying to show off. Just make my point.)
I agree.... what could it be? An internet speed problem? A router port needs to be open... problem with n old router? Network setting in the PS3? Not being able to create a match means I have no reason to use the map editor...
has anyone figured out a solution to this problem? I tried connecting ps3 directly to my cable modem, rest modem and ps3, confirmed internet connection, and yet still get the same error... so it has nothing to do with router configs.... what the hell could it be??
Contacted UBI Support on this one which was pretty much a waste...
Despite the fact that I stated i get this error while connected either through a router (Nat Type 2) or even when connected directly to the cable modem (Nat Type 1) and that im able to host games for warhawk, gta4, and haze... ubi support passed this problem off as a sony ps3 support issue and said i would have to contact sony. This of course would be a waste of time because as soon as sony hears that i am using nat 1 or 2, with no problems using voice chat or hosting other games, only far cry they would of course tell me its an ubi problem.
This is why I rarely bother with tech support.
clearly a flaw in their code, and i remain unable to create a match... any ideas what it could be?
Just curious, trying to figure out what we have in common. If you are getting this error, can u share some info lrike which ps3 console do u own...your network settings on the ps3, nat type, have you tried connecting your ps3 directly to your dsl/cable modem... Here's what i have:
ps3 40gb (spiderman 3) version wired connection nat type 1 (direct to modem) and also tried nat type 2 (router) time warner cable internet no problems hosting other games no problems using voice chat thru ps3
Let me know if you think of anything I can try to get this working. Thanks!
I have identified what I believe to be a bug. I have had this problem with the error on creating a match ever since i got the game. Through various testing I have confirmed the problem is not related to network setup, router config, ps3 hardware, no a faulty Far Cry 2 disc. The problem seems to be specifically with my login which happens to be a 16 character name, including 1 dash (Spiritual-Zombie) . However i created a second user on my ps3 and set a new ps3 id screenname, this one 11 characters long and it went thru.
I am thinking this problem may be a flaw in far cry 2, possibly not supporting a full 16 character name or maybe a full 16 characteer name with special characters like dashes.
so i can now finally create a match under this alternate login, RebelZombie, but what sucks is my rank and all other games are tied to my original id Spiritual-Zombie.
Not a huge deal but I would like to see this fixed so i can use my original sign on.
my question to anyone else having this prob is how many characters is your screenname and does it contain any special characters?
This bug is definitely an issue with particular ps3 accounts, so im thinking maybe the screenname is getting truncated and causing immediate error.
Try creating another ps3 user account, switch to the new one and go thru the process of setting up new online id with fewer characters and see if you can then create a match with the new id.
you can use this account for far cry hosting if you want until they (hopefully) fix the bug.
i have the same problem and one more. almost every tme when a friend tries to invite me i get the message "failed to join match, please try again later". this really sucks. but the technical suppurt from ubisoft sucks even more because everything i get there is a stupid automited message which helps exactly nothing. if this goes on like this i want my money back from ubisoft
SpiritualZombie you are what we can call a SAVIOR !!!! You just figured it out !!! We have a team (TERRORSQUAD) and my name was TERRORSQUAD_CHOP and with it I could not create match but I changed it to TERRORSQUADCHOP (only 15 caracters) and now IT WORKS. We can now use our custom maps !!!! TERROR is back ! Before that we tried everything even asking UBISOFT support but they suck.
So now that we can create games all teams are welcome to come and challenge TERRORSQUAD ! We have many fun custom maps and are always looking for good players. Just send an friend invite to TERRORSQUADCHOP just specify that you found me in this forum. Please feel free to pass out and make yourself confortable while TERRORSQUAD steals your diamonds !!!!
