I keep getting error

Error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation.

these are my specs what can I do?
Intel Core 2 Duo T5550@1.83GHZ
Ram 3574mb
OS; Vista Premium 32 bit

Here's a tip for WinXP users: normally (for me at least) you have to be logged in as administrator in order to play the game. However, if you run the "runas" tool you can play the game in any non-administrator account.

For instance, I pasted the following into a batch file and renamed it "play_farcry.bat":

runas /user:Adminolicious "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe"

Just replace "Adminolicious" with the name of your admin account, and the path to "FarCry.exe" to wherever you installed the game.

Of course, you will still need to provide the password to the account (it will ask you for it). But this at least saves you the trouble of having to log off and back on.

Note also that the "runas" tool works for any program! (Useful for when Firefox wants to update...)

I have Windows Xp 64 bit. There is no 64 bit installer on the Far Cry disk. What should I do?

hi.. i'm new to this game. do i have to load the game cd everytime i want to play far cry 2?

Hello, I've a bit of a problem on what to do. My serial code has been misplaced and a recent system restore took it off the registry. I'm 15 so that means I'm tight on cash. Is there a certain program to use or do I just email or call up Ubisoft and ask for a new one?

Note: I bought an nVIDIA GTX 260 and this game came with it, if that makes a difference..

Didnt your code come with the game? I got a free copy of Far Cry and the code was on the paper envelope. I doubt they(Ubisoft) would just give you a new code because you ask them and you are only 15. If you mean Far Cry...its only $9.99 online. Far Cry 2 is newer so its more....a lot more. Good Luck

Im sorry ...I just realized this is the Predator/Instincts board...Im a PC only guy...same rules though...I doubt they will hand you a new code on request based soley on your age ...you can certianly try though.

Just bought the classic farcry but problem is if i boost up all the settings all i get is like a white fog on the screen and if i let the game configure the settings it puts all on low settings and it looks crap..

any patches that will make this game play to its full......

I have to say I find it funny that I can play AVP2 on full and thats like 7 years old and yet this game what only 4 can be played on full qualities...

yh, i dug out far cry pc to bring back memories and to finally try the multiplayer. but i can't install patch 1.40. it says im updated to the latest version but im only at 1.33. any ideas. thanks in advance

Try to uninstlall all your farcry patches(by selecting 'uninstall' at the patch's setup) and then download/install the 1.4 cumulative. I hope it will work

To remind people why I joined this forum: I have farcy installed at my pc and it will only work if I don't install any patches.
So I had to start over again as my savegames only show up at v1.4.
I run Windows XP sp1 2002 version.
Can anybody Help me?!

You downloaded the free version. It's still around, thou it's not legit. The free trial was ended years ago. You'll have to buy it. It's very cheap on steam.

Im confused...this forum says Instincts , Predator versions....why are all these questions about the original PC version of Far Cry ? Why arent we all redirected to the proper forum ?

Because ubi can't arse themself to tap a few keys and fix these forums. They're extremely bad managed and very messy, we get posts in the wrong forum daily. The one you're in now though is 100% FC1, PC. I think... :P

Sorry to bump a relatively old thread, but I'm having an issue.
I just bought this game off of Steam, and it's running perfectly. However, I'm trying to install the v1.4 Cumulative Patch (downloaded from Ubi.com), and I'm having an error. I'm doing the following step:

That patch won't install on the STEAM version of Far Cry. Steam automatically updates every game, but make sure this update option is enabled.

Go to the 'My Games' section of Steam, and right-click on the FarCry icon. Then select Properties, and under the 'Updates tab' for the game select 'Always keep this game up to date' , under the Automatic Updates section.

After that restart the STEAM client. Now the game should be patched properly. Hope this helps ?
