I reached the end of Cooler level where you go to this room to save Val after killing two mutants.
When I open the door and go to Val nothing happens, she just stands there and there is nothing more to do, I can't go anywhere.

I restarted the level 9 times, the I restarted entire game from scratch and then I restarted that level some more.

I have patch 1.4 and my PC is well above recommended.

So, this basically means I can't play Far Cry anymore, how is it possible that after all those patches fundamental game stopping bug is not fixed?

I haven't had this problem on 2 rigs (with several upgrade in between) but I seem to remember that if you use the quick save work around it will cause level ending problems on a few of the levels.

Anyway, it's been awhile but I think the best fix is to play the level through again.

If you've done that without quick saves then with no joy just load the next level.

That's the end of the Cooler level and next map is Boat. Bring down the console by hitting the tilde key ("~"). Then type "\map boat" (without the quote marks). It should load up the next map but you'll have the default weapons.

I didn't use quicksave workaround.
If I load a map I won't have cryvision, sniper rifle, all that sniper ammo I saved and other...is this all that can be done?

You can try this use devmode and console command to tell the level to end

But this thread says the level load method gives you the MP5, Sniper rifle, pistol and machete.

You don't need the nightvision glasses for boat and you'll be able to pick them up off a dead soldier anyway. They're also around ammo some pickups also.

backslash should be to the right of the bracket keys, above the enter key and below backspace.

Can you enter ASCII code in the console?
Try holding the alt key down while you type 092 on the keypad. That should generate a backslash.
