Thanks to Slugworth for the posting, here, I was wondering about single player maps, and there they were. I dont mind the long download times, I am so excited and thrilled to have Far Cry exist at all, I had almost given up hope after researching and playing hundreds of games over the past years ( am an artist and interested in the possiblities of CGI...) and
then, the light turned on and there was Far Cry.
I cannot describe my feelings as I played out from the first bunker, and my hopes and dreams for free action, 360 degree 3D were right there on the screen (albiet at very low res as I hadnet installed the patches on my AMD 64 system, being a web behind the ears newbie....) but with help from good people here I am tweaking and installing...and this thread and thee Slugworth compliations are a great help!

Following some misery with the 1.3 patch I decided to try out Doc's updater. It seemed to install fine [so already better than the official patch]but now when I try to load up the game I get a critical error that tells me that I'm getting errors loading the default font languages/fonts/default.xml. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks for your help.

Hey doc, the installer worked when I last used it but my zip is refusing to extract, says extraction failed everytime. I had a glitch and had to do a repair which removed patches apparently, so now it will not extract - AGH!!!

Umm, try redownloading it? Extracting it with winzip/winrar is one thing. The ability to run the executable is another. Which do you speak of?

Hi Doc; Using Cutezip a program from globalsoft. I tried three different downloads so its a dead cert its my end! May have to download winzip and give that a go but never had problems with my own zipper before this one!

When I try and download the torrent, I get an 'Application not found' error.

What am I doing wrong? Or is the link dead..

you need a prog called bit torrent or someting similar installed to be able to use torrent files

*Sigh* I know what Bit Torrent is. I'm actually downloading something this very moment off BT. I'm using the Bit Tornado client.

Still getting the 'Application not found' error though.

There is a small file to be downloaded and kept in your pc; it acts as the "catalyst" to the torrent. Just seen Westeez post above, must be a duff address then????

I have found the solution for those people who can't reinstall the patch 1.3. I found this by trying to install the patch (which dind't work because i forgot to deinstall it) the following way: I opened the Setup file thats been put in you're temp folder when you try to install the patch (Documents&Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp). Then i found the PRODUCT CODE and the following number: {21A127AE-2DAF-40B7-8374-34C3E629521C}
Let windows do a search for that folder and delete it. Now you can reistall patch 1.3. I think it also works for other patches.
