Hi guys.

Decided to get Far Cry 2 (PC) today, but I'm having big problems getting the game to run beyond the third loading screen (The screen that says about the shipment of AKs and RPGs) it just sits on that screen with the loading anim at top left flicking round. I have to hit the reset button on my PC to get back to Windows.

It installed fine, auto downloaded the patches on first run, but what I find strange is that I'm never asked for the Install keycode.

My system meets the specs:

Self build
ASUS A8v-Deluxe
AMD 64 3800
1 GB RAM
Audigy 4 Soundcard
nVidia 7600GT/512MB

I have tried loading the game in both normal mode and safe mode but it always hangs on the third loading screen.
Video drivers and sound drivers are all up to date, as is DirectX 9.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

I have the same problem. It actually worked fine for me for a few days and then it suddenly wouldn't load the actual game. I tried moving my save files and uninstalling and then reinstalling, I've tried loading different saves and I've updated my drivers.

I've also tried running the benchmark tool with all the graphics settings turned way down and it does the same thing, so I know it's not my saved game files.

Mine never actually worked.

Suppose if we sit tight someone might come up with a solution.

Just a case of entertaining ourselves till then

If Salvador Dali had a PC. Would it have a surreal port and a floppy drive?

In that case then, would UBI send an email authorizing a refund, or notify Game stores to do so? Because Game say it's my fault because I didn't make sure the game would run on my PC, which in my opinion is a get out riddled with BS that's not worth the airspace it took up when the sales kid blurted it out. It's technically impossible to "Make sure a game runs on your PC before you actually purchase it".
I don't take too kindly to giving money for nothing.

That 7600 GT seems a bit dated for this game, though it may meet system specs. I had a tough enough time with the 8600 GTS OC and I know a guy with a 7900 that can barely run the game as well. (Wont do the benchmark, it just closes and says it cant run it) Also, my 9300m GS struggles to run the game on anything but low resolution, maybe bumping the textures up to medium.

Id say start with a new GPU, it seems time to upgrade anyway with one that old. Its a shame, but anything less than an 8800 nowadays is a bit far behind the times to play many of the new titles. Another stick of RAM couldnt hurt either, it seems you may be running barely passing hardware, which usually ends in failure anyway.
