Thank you.

Just out of interest, is the AMD Athlon 6000+ X2 rated the same as the E6600 C2D?

Just to clarify, they are the Crysis requirements.

The popular assumption is that FC2 will require similar power.

Ubi havent made any comment on this yet other than the couple of quotes you see on teh FC2HQ page.

Yeah if you try and whack up the settings in Crysis, the GTS does seem to struggle.
Are you on XP or Vista? Even 8800GTXs are struggling with Vista, suggesting there is a problem with the drivers...

XP, I overclock the GPU from 500mhz to 648mhz when playing games, and it still struggled.

Here's a piccy Cicky for piccy!

I'm due for a mobo upgrade soon, I think I'll go for SLI with another GTS.

Nice...

Have you seen the reviews for the GT?
Great performance at budget price, and the pricing is sure to drop when the new range comes out. (allegedly this month)

Yes, the 8800 GT looks like a killer card. If I didn't already have a GTX I would be jumping at one of those.

I just downloaded the Crysis demo again. It looks like I'm going to have to spend about £250:00 sorting out my computer to run Crysis, and Far Cry 2 at decent settings. I was getting about 30fps at 1024/768 with all effects and anti aliasing etc. on high. Where as Far Cry 1 plays at 70+fps at 1680/1050 with everything on max settings (I know, old game).

I'm just wondering why games developers cant make new games look better but play on Existing hardware but at decent speeds. I know that some people wont be able to play Crysis for a while until they can afford new hardware.

For instance, when I had a BBC Micro there were never any issues of this kind, even when Elite (one amazing game, I used to hunt pirates for hours in my wire framed, maxed out, Cobra) came out.

This seems a bit unfair to me.

Ah Elite...
(mist forms over eyes, stupid grin fixed on face...)

It the price you have to pay for near photo realism.
The more detailed a texture the longer it takes to render, the more different textures you have the more drawcalls you need to make. Every step needs both procesing power and time.

Both Crytek and UBI could have produced games on the Cryengine1 "as is" but to both of their credit, they are trying to push the envelope.

We get the good and the bad; fantastic new experiences, but at a significant cost...

Crysis is running much better with the new nVidia beta driver (plus the tweaks provide on the forum site). My GTS is running smoothly with settings set on high. Plus the first patch is due soon and that should help performance.

Far Cry will hopefully not suffer the all the problems that Crysis had to endure. Ubisoft will learn from EA's experience. Though people mistakenly seem to always blame the publishers (ie. EA, Ubi, etc.)

I ran the Beta drivers for my GTS, and lost the over clocking, and fan control in the Nvidia vTune app. Frown I'll give it a go when I buy Crysis (after I've got all the Christmas pressies, food, booze etc!! Priorities...) in January. I may have an SLI set-up by then too Wink

nVidia is getting ready to release the GTS rev2 and later the 8900 series.....meh...I give up. Who in hell can keep up?

I'm with you and planning on SLIing my Ultra's when I can, but I going to quit trying to keep up with what is new and improved. Your GTS's in SLI will do great running any game for quite a long time.
