I don't see why they want to cut the characters or plot. If there's no Jack (and Val should be around somewhere too) that's like taking a piss on FC1 and pretending it didn't happen.

Maybe Jack will be like Solid Snake in MGS2, playable but not the main character. But we all know how that turned out. (Warning: Refrain from designing a whiny girly-man with flowing blond locks!)

Getting rid of jack carver wouldn't bother me so much because firstly you never get to see him, only his guns and tattoo
secondly i mainly only plaay multiplayer on far cry so i'm not at good terms with the storyline
and lastly i think that by now he should have at least retired from all that running around on desert islands because, well, he wouldn't want to get himself killed now would he?
if u want to know my opinion you should be able to create you own main character and select from a variety of names so the movie parts on the campaign act as if they are talking directly to you, putting the player into the game and letting them experince it first hand.

Did you play Far Cry 1? That game was packed with cutscenes and dialogs of Jack Carver.

I kind of agree. Granted that Jack Carver is a badass mofo, but I doubt that even he would go through such trouble again.

Anyway. Didn't Ubi say that Far Cry 2 includes this technology to simply change skin color and clothing? Because... just make a male and female model of hands, animate them to work with every weapon and in the end let the player decide the skin color. Both genders, all skin colors.

You should try and find it or download it for free. I never finished it initially, then went back and did finish it just a year a go. A truly epic singleplayer game which can keep you entertained for at least 20 hours. And the graphics aren't too bad even by todays standards. The textures are sub par, but the bigger picture is still quite beautiful. And the gameplay still rocks.

If you are keeping Jack Carver, atleast make him wear some DPM!!

Well i didn't like Jack and i am glad that we will have more characters to chose from in FC2 but i have only played the pc version of Far Cry not instinct or predator and they say the voice actor for Carver is better on the xbox games. But i hated him in the pc version thank god for the editor.

I think this is the most ridiculous move to ever be taken by a gaming company. Jack Carver was the heart and soul of Far Cry...THE HEART SOUL! And it wouldn't be dumb that he gets into "trouble" again, I mean they could use the same excuse as in the first one. Karma. He believed in Karma and apparently it kept kicking him in the ass. So why couldn't it kick him again? I mean he does need money, so why can't he be a mercenary too and kill that weapons dealer guy and buy his boat. ALL HE WANTED WAS HIS BOAT!
