Abit is very good. My backup is
Abit AW9D-MAX (Intel i975-ICH7) Bios version # 7.3.13 Intel Core 2 Duo CPU e6600 @ 2.40GHz And my new is... Gigabyte P35 DS3L(1st Gigabyte MB-great so far) Q6600 3.4Ghz Go Stepping If you want a Abit then you might consider this one... ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard. Though I don't have any 1st hand knowledge....but Abit does make good boards. |

I also heard that diamond makes some pretty crazy motherboards.

Diamond is Diamond Flower Integration or you may have heard of them as DFI. 2-3 years ago they were the dogs danglies for the Athlon 64 and x2s, very high end enthusiasts boards ripe for overclocking. For a period no other manufacturer could get near them. I have a DFI LAN Party NF4 SLI DR for my AMD4000. Its a tremendous board for its generation, but not for the novice. They didnt do so well with the first generation of intel boards after that though and I havent had kept pace with their current products. Need to do some research myself, gotta nest egg burning a hole in my pocket, but I am going to at least wait till ATIs next GPU release and see how NVIDIA respond (they have effectively sat on their laurels since the 8800 came out, with ATI unable to beat it so far. CuZ Obsidian Edge 2 - OE2 Media Hub: All your OE2 Media Updates, interviews etc... Obsidian Edge 2 - Tactical Realism Modification for Crysis and CryEngineTM2 |

But have **** support. Users of the P5K series of motherboards are still waiting for a BIOS fix so they can run their PC2-8500 DDR2 RAM on ASUS motherboards that claim support for them....but dont! |

Asus may make the best but evga offers a life time warrenty

Well ive been thinking, and thats not good, lol, ive been debating, I just got a hold of some extra money, I already have a decent proc, AMD X2 5600 @3.0 (=E6600 C2D) but have been thinking of getting a new mobo to support a new Q6600 cpu, would only cost me around 300 or so dollars, just wondering if it would be worth it or if my current cpu could get the job done for at least another year or two. Thoughts?
On a side note, I hope my 5600 X2 doesnt hold me back with this game, I got it OC'd to 3.0, around the same performance as a E6600 C2D, we shall see. I know they've touted quad core support, hope its not that much of a handicap if you dont have one.
dude... that's not a bad CPU, infact if you get some decent cooling on it you can probably clock it a little higher - mine's at 3.1 - 14x multiplier, FSB 218, cpu voltage 1.55V, running at about 35 degrees idle with a coolermaster gemini II heatsink (f*ck*ng huge thing) and 2 Arctic cooling 120mm silent fans @ 3300 rpm (on the heatsink) The CPU is equivalent to a P4 running at a ludicrous 8.6Ghz!!! :-O Don't believe me? get yourself to system requirements lab @ http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest Run a test and check it out. |

whats the difference between sata ata and pata?
|
||||

In that interview in other thread(buttonbandits interview) the dude from far cry 2 said something like "the quad core will be out for a while than so we expect some gamers to have them"(that's in my own words |

Sata is better but this article can explain it better than I can' http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BRZ/is_11_22/ai_98977132 |

specs will be something like Motherboard: 750I Graphics card: 2X8800 GT(S) in SLI)->same performance as a gx2 CPU: Q6600 3GB ram 320GB hard drive (if i don't count the gt(s) s(and wait for price drops) and if this 520watt is good enough for sli wich i doubt i come to 600/700Euro (wich is kind of cheap...) |
