Are you in the EU right now or up till 3am? Blink

While Dunia is a new engine, historically the recommended spec for FC turned out be the true minimum.
Can you divulge any performance figures (FPS Benchmarks) to support the minimum spec?

I assume that there is no diffrence between SP and MP recommended Specs?

The specs shown include Quads in the family and it has been said that the demos have been run on Octo core prototypes - to what degree will the user benefit from multicore processors? (Eg what is supported and what do you aim to optimise for?)

OT observation: Arent specs typically only released in the final run up to release...?

*Note: the previous speculation thread has now been closed, but you can take a trip down memory lane to see who called it right here

This is good news. It's right where I hoped it would be. I've got an 8800 GTX, Core 2 quad, and 4 GB of RAM, so I'm pretty happy that I'm quite a bit above the recommended. It's true that requirements can be a little off a lot of the time, but we've got a pretty encouraging ballpark here. I doesn't seem like we'll have a hardware "crysis"... ok, that was a bad pun Razz . This also indicates that the game is on track for that vague Fall release date.

It will certainly let you play 'install fc2' Sir.Diealot_swe Smile

On a serious note, I've found you can run some games on less than min spec by optimising your operating system to use less resources.

To name a couple for XP: TuneXP v1.5 and FSAutoStart.

FSAutoStart was originally created to help flight sim enthusiasts get the most performance out of their systems. However it can be used for all games.

It basically lets you configure what background services to stop when you launch a game so you have more resources available. Its a very handy tool. It can even be used on high end rigs to squeeze some more FPS out.

FINALLY an official word.
thanks kimi.

and i am totally not surprised by the recommanded specs as they are pretty much the same as every multi platform game.
the minimum specs are what has all the mystery around and they seem OK for ppl with lower end rigs.

but now i know i make the recommended. WOOT to me! (q6600, 2gb ram, x1900xtx 512mb. yeah baby). in every multi platform game i always make the recommended just by a hair since my GPU is one of the best DX9 cards so it's always a close race, but i always make it.

i hope that with these sys-req and my rig i can run it at 1440X900 on all high with no AA. that's all i want.

Ok some questions here:

- How these specs relate to different OS's (XP/Vista)? Will the min spec allow you to run FC 2 on Vista? If so isnt the min spec for XP a bit lower?

- Can we even run fc2 on XP or is Vista the minimum? (Ok I already know this one, but it's nice to put minimum/recommended OS in specs as well imho Wink).

I am about as far above recommended (Core 2 6750, 8800 GTX, 2 GB RAM) as I was above Far Cry's recommended specs when it came out. And my rig then (P4 3.0, 9800 pro, 1 GB) was seriously challenged by Far Cry.
Ground breaking games like Oblivion, Far Cry and DOOM3 had upper ranges that could not be visualized at the time of release.

My question is: Will Far Cry 2 have higher graphics detail unreachable by todays hardware?
Will there be a "very high" setting that requires a Quad extreme or higher and a next gen video card with a gig of memory and 4 gigs of RAM?

that's more like crytek. less UBISOFT.
it isnt as great looking as crysis and i bet it will be less demanding too.
i really dont think it will be an out -of-range game like farcry and oblivion and such.
but thats also a matter of how high u try to run it. i bet a lot of games will chug if u run them at 1900X1200 and 8XAA and AFX16. u should be reasonable as well.

My Specs: Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz
4GB RAM
8600m GT DDR3 256MB
Vista 64-bit Home Premium

Well, I'm on a E2180@3GHz, 2 GB RAM, and a HD 3850 256 MB and I hope that in 1024x768 or even 1280x1024 the game will fly at somewhat moderate settings. I really hope those spec ar not in there without any real testing.

i agree. i never enable AA with a 1440X900 res. its high enough for me and AA slows the FPS more than it helps the visuals, imo.
on my 21'' monitor i never really miss AA.

what damages FPS more? setting the res one notch higher or setting AA one notch higher? is there a general answer to this?
