I think the Far cry console ports were brought about by the molestation of the IP by its owner...which is a shame...While the games produced were fairly good and I can understand their reasoning I hope Far Cry 2 will not be diluted by "afterthought" and "beat a dead horse" titles as well. Far Cry was about innovation, the ports just took advantage of the hype.
As far as their commitment to being a a PC only IP. I think its a good choice. Have the entire development team focusing on one version can only help. I have no doubt that FC2 will be just as great as its predecessor. |

Good points Coops, but ya gotta wonder why they spent over 2 years hiding this when most PC players were complaining about Ubi seemingly ignoring them.
Hopefully it will get even better when Ubi beefs up their Montreal studio to make it the largest in the world. I should think the PC community's response to this game will be overwhelming after release and give them added incentive to do more of the same with other titles. |

Well someone said he read in PC Gamer there will be only herbivores but I have yet to see any confirmation of that.

the problem is do you think they are even going to sell as much? The system requirement for now a day computer games is about 512MB RAM and a lot more other requirements just to make it up the recommended requirements. Far Cry originally didn't take much it only took 256MB RAM and lower requirements thats probably why it was a bit famous for the low requirements but fun features. Far Cry 2 however might come out like now a day computer games and so than not that many people will buy it. I understand with WOW fans since they upgrade the **** out of their computers cause they feel like the are being cheated just from have low game play details and not playing even from one day. But Far Cry 2 might not even come out like that if it did it might not be as popular even though i find it as fun as halo 2.

When it comes down to it Dominator79 is right . The problem with any modern Computer game is that the system reqirements are too high that most gamers don't have . For example I heard Crysis at minimum takes 1GB of ram and you need to have a video card that has 256MB on it just to play the game on minimum requirements. That alone proves that if Farcry2 was only for PC that most gamers who wants this game won't be able to meet the recommended requirements and even if they reach the minimum requirements the game would run worst then if is was on a console. That fact alone proves that if Farcry2 was only to be on PC that there would be less copies of the game sold compared to that if Ubisoft ports the game over to the consoles .

You may not be remembering what Far Cry was like when it first came out. Far Cry was one of the most, if not THE most demanding games for PC for its time. The minimum requirements said 256 MB, but you really needed 768 to 1024 MB, or a very clean operating system with 512 MB. It also needed a directX 9 video card and a 2 GHz processor. In short, a middle to high end gaming machine. I think a middle to high end 2008 machine will run Far Cry 2 nicely. The FC console games were not ports of the original, but separate games. I think that is what they will do with FC2, make it for PC only, then have FC2:Africa or some such name for the console game. |

Yes of course but I bet some players had below requirements but were still were able to play. And as i said WOW players upgrade the **** out of their computers, which is about 6 million, how would you know if some of the them play Far Cry as well? These can be some of the different types of people that play Far Cry.

Iv said it before, ill say it again Xbox owners got 3 farcry games. Pc owners have only had 1. Im sure there will be more crappy versions of farcry on the xbox and other consoles (which they are, iv tried them, they just dont compare to the pc version) but for now just enojoy the games you have got, weve been enjoying farcry 1 for nearly 4 years now. Stop complaining fs |

ROFL! dude.....the first Farcry port to xbox was really good, different than the PC version yes, but for what it was, it was good.

They thought FarCry was good on the xbox. the poor guys, show some love for consoles, they are truly at the ass-end of the gaming market, a place I actually only thought of PC gamers being at. |

I bought an xbox solely to get farcry on. Was the biggest waste of money ever. The game was pathetic. FPS games are just not meant to be played on consoles |
