I think this sick, sick SteelBook™ box art (which is FAR better than the regular cover, btw) might NOT be part of the LE package. According to various online shops, they give this to you for FREE, as a bonus, for pre-ordering the REGULAR edition of Far Cry 2. I'm not sure if they also give you this metal case if you pre-order the Collector's/Limited Edition, as well.

To be honest with you, if it came down to having to buy either the Regular Edition (with the SteelBook™ case), versus the Collector's Edition, I would choose the Regular Edition. I don't really need all that extra crap that comes with the Collector's Edition; I just want the shiny, shiny metal case. So shiny and pretty. I want to hold it and hug it and kiss it.

Hopefully the special SteelBook™ case available in all regions, and not just in the UK or something, like some other LE title's have done in the past. I don't want to be ripped off in the United States with a crappy hologram cardboard DVD sleeve or some $!%#@ as a substitute for a true SteelBook™ metal case.

What kind of wood is the box made from and is it varnished, if so how many coats of varnish where applied?

Well that's ridiculous, I'm not buying it unless they use a 140 proof extreme clearcoat, and one coat of 92.5 proof extreme sandstone sheen.
