Stuck doors have been reported as a problem so often it's hard to imagine it's not some kind of bug. At the very least it could be an intermittent one where for some reason something keeps the door from opening whether an AI triggered event or something else.
Sometimes how you position yourself and look at an interactive hand icon item such as door or diamond case can make the difference. Others have reported that straying far enough away from the area after all AI are killed then coming back after the AI have respawned and killing them all again allows the door to then open. On my first play through the game I had the door bug on the free the captive at the rooster fights arena mission. In the 3 times I loaded the save prior to taking the mission it happened each time. Low and behold this 2nd time playing through the game that mission was bug free. I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but my 2nd play through I chose the 2nd avatar (Warren) instead of the 1st one (Marty) and though the rooster fight mission was again given on the doorstep of the UFLL HQ, the guy that gave it to me this time was one of the So African sounding white guys wearing camo fatigues and an Aussie hat. The time before it was a bald headed black guy. I have not had ANY bugs thus far in my 2nd play through (knock on wood), and am 54% done so far. |

Seems like no one can seriously answer this mission. And it is no wonder... it is a confusing one. i looked it up and couldnt find sufficient answer, but eventually found it.
To free the foreign prisionor in Sediko do the following: 1. Enter the building through one of the two doors 2. Go to the room which has a large round structure in the bottom. 3. look around, there should be a greyish pole that is NOT against the wall. Above the pole is a hole. 4. go up the pole, open the door that is in the room above 5. Grin that you managed to do something that took you 3 hours to work out. If the door wont unlock: 1. Check you have the mission (by going to menu or by checking your map) 2. try entering the camp without killing anyone (this is easily possible without any trouble, just watch the sniper) 3. Dont leave the building once you enter it. 4. Works fine with vista 32bit with no trouble |

People can read, everyone who hasn't been able to free the prisoner know there is a ladder there and have climbed it. The hand gesture does not appear when you come to the door.
1. It says free the prisoner as the mission 2. Sneak in without killing anyone, same thing 3. Um ok so sit inside the building for a few hours until it decides to open by itself? I don't think so 4. Um I have vista 32 bit and it does not work Appreciate the info but it's pointless, its a bug, just move on to another game or get someones gave save |

I have had this issue too (PC) however it was not the door that was stuck, I got the door open fine and freed my new buddy, but this did not mark the objective complete.
People need to log this to the official UBI website. It has a bug too, don't log in with your e-mail use your user id. I've gotten their official response to this, same as the others, I think it is an auto-response: Subject --------------------------------------------------------------- I have been having problems with "rescue" missions. Customer - 11/12/2008 05:40 PM I have been having problems with "rescue" missions. They do not trigger "mission complete." This has happened at the buddy rescue mission at the Brewery, the rescue mission at Dogin Sediko (spelling surely wrong there.) Can you offer any assistance? These rescued buddies are visible in Mike's Bar, etc. but the rescue mission for them will not complete. I restarted the game to see if I could work around it. I was nearing the end of Act 1 when you have to go to the falls and do an assassination. I took a last mission for a buddy first, came back, the guard for the UFFL let me in the door, but I get to the top of the stairs and the door is closed and no way to pick up the mission. I went to a savegame before I did the last side mission for the buddy, went back, and got the last mission. Please let me know you are working on a fix for this. ---- At least if they acknowledged this is a code defect it would give us a sense of relief. I'm close to disputing the charge on my charge card because this is effectively a game stopper. |

I got the following reply too:
Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Technical Support. Unfortunately, the issue you are having is related to general gameplay hints and tips that is either covered in the manual, or is available via another source such as the Ubisoft forums And then they marked my question as: Issue resolved Well I am flaming the forum now... |

I think "the issue you are having is related to general gameplay.." is a very broad statement that really means nothing at all.
This is my second try at the game. I've installed Vista 32 bit this time. Last night, I freed the prisoner because I happened to be in the area. I was NOT offered the mission. I just freed the prisoner like someone here mentioned. I'm at 55% and had just completed a blowing up a convoy mission in the NE of the south map. I realized I was right close to the village, so I went in, killed everyone and freed the prisoner. No issues at all. There is NO KEY, or other special tricks or secrets. It's as simple as we all thought. Go in, kil 'em all (or not), go into building, up ladder (we all know the ladder), go to the door and HEY, A HAND!!! Press 'E', door opens, chick stands up, you're done. Now I'm curious what will happen? Will I get offered that mission sooner or later? And if so, will it automatically complete itself? or fail and be another road block? |

...and quite frankly it has the sound of a SPAM bot responding to emails for them. OK, I loosely described the technology, but I think you get my point. It might as well be SPAM if it's more insulting than helpful. A little bit of the old denial syndrome maybe? Whoever came up with Automated Email Response software must be making a killing off of devs like Ubi. |

Hey Six
Doesn't this all sound too familiar? Remember the same issue with "Cooler"? Getting to Val with the 2 trigens in the partially flooded office? What was mostly causing the locked door syndrome there was quick saves. It was somehow disabling triggers. I wonder if the F5 quick save might be causing some problems here? Anyone with 'lock problems' not using quicksave at sometime in the mission? Cpt Long USA, Ret. |

I did it the opposite way round & killed every last one of them before I had a look to remind myself what the mission objective was & then went to the red circle but didn't find the pole ladder until I had run circles round the hut trying to find a way up. when I found the ladder it all worked as it should so I then found the buggy behind the hut for a getaway

I don't think so Cpt. I haven't ever had any save problems with FC 2. I think it's more AI related. In fact if anything the quicksaves are more stable and reliable in this game than most from my experience, IF you keep the save folder to a reasonable size and have an adequate page file as I stated earlier. One time I had a diamond case not show the hand icon when I tried opening it. Loading the last quicksave corrected the problem. |

Lots of event trigger bugs (also door bugs) in this game. I completed the game with no bugs but a friend of mine had a door bug that wouldn't allow him to get any further. Somehow he eventually found some work-around but it's really unfortunate how many of these bugs exist and I believe have not been patched thus far.

I've never given thought that it might have something to do with the player character chosen... I'm playing the game with Josip, the Albanian guy, I'm running the game on XP Service Pack 2 (wouldn't switch to vista if they paid me for it!), .Net Framework ver. 2.0 and I've never had any problems of any kind. I'm 50% through the game, have been playing for a week now, and I've only had one occasion when the game froze on me, but it happened after half a day playing and lots of alt-tabbing.
Wouldn't it have been nice if at least some beta-tester was on the forum to answer questions like that. Grrrr.... |

well....im 58% through i have found the dogon sediko mystery door. whats behind door number one..who the hell knows since it wont open...
fellas ive tried like crazy all day to find a workaround...to no avail. Ive reloaded, killed left came back and killed again, ive bombarded the building hoping to kill the guy inside so i could at least move on, ive tried to rescue before the mission /after the mission, and just about everyother solution i ve read about...im now looking for a modder to just remove the bloody door. i cant read through and understand the files well in this game. i work with stalker but that ones an easy street to mod. so if any one can find that door and nuke it we will all have a beeter day. |

Please post here with your info-
Save game freezing? Buddies attacking you? Stuck at xx%? *potential spoilers* |

I bet the problem with all these objectives has to do with the saved games. For instance, I had an issue where I planted an IED and then saved. I then reloaded and I exploded the IED but the objective wouldn't mark as completed. v1.0.1 fixed this particular problem with IEDs they say. I think they debugged the game mostly with the console in mind so the quick saves (PC only) might not have been fully tested. I think the reload is not always reloading all the information needed to continue the game.

G'day
Well, I finished the game now. This mission never even came up I did run into another problem though and I was worried that it would stop me cold as well. At around 80% or so (I think) I was able to choose missions from cell towers, any of 3 buddies in Mikes bar, and one mission in Pala. I choose a cell tower mission. After completeing it, ONLY the main mission in town was available. But, after getting there, and being let into the building, the door to the room upstairs was closed, no-one was around, I could do nothing. So, I went back to my earlier save just after the previous mission (before the cell tower mission), and choose to do a Buddy mission. Again, after completing this mission, same problem. Door was closed in the main building in town and there was nothing else for me to do. So, back to the earlier save, then straight to town and accept the main mission. Things continued on as normal after that. No more problems. Now I've put it away. I would've been willing to actually play it again BUT, after seeing how the game ends, well, I'm not willing to put up with the bugs anymore Thanks for all the feedback and talk. Cheers, KM Back to COD4 multi-player |

Oh, I'd like to clarify one thing for all players.
You DO NOT have to kill everyone to free a prisoner. I proved that when I was able to sneak into one (the brewery maybe) without firing a shot or even being seen. I released the prisoner and was out without being seen too. Only when I arrived back at my boat did I have to kill anyone. A guard was checking out my boat. I snuck up behind him and machete'd him |

i have the bug where i can actually get into the house/room but i can't find the prisoner anywhere. i saw a second storey but how do i get to it? is the prisoner even there? i didn't hear anything.

after reading so many rants about not being able to free prisoners (locked doors) and continue on with the game, why would anyone buy another game from Ubisoft? i agree, their bs auto replies to your complaints shows they don't care. they think it's your system's fault and has nothing to do with a major game ending bug in their POS game! what do you do when you're dead in the water and can't proceed with the game? it's not that great of a game that makes you wanna start over and HOPE you don't hit this bug again. quit buying games from them until they wake up and see the loss of revenue. YOU have the power to quit making them rich on a game that's not thoroughly beta tested. return it and play something else...
