Hi. I'm in Act2 and trying to release the prisoner from the locked structure at Dogon Sediko. I've tried numerous times, but I can't free the prisoner. I first tried this mission early on in Act 2 but after killing all the bad guys, and climbing the stairs, the door won't open. I went back to a prvious save and did other missions instead. Now, this is the ONLY mission available and I still can't free the prisioner. I've tried several ways, several times.
Is there a key or something hidden somewhere to unlock the door on the second floor of the building where the prisoner is. Please help.
Yes, I'm about as sure as I can be in this game. I've run around exploding everything trying to draw attention. I've run EVERYWHERE and shot everything. I've set fire to everything as well. No one else comes out, nor can I find anyone else anywhere. I've re-tried and re-started this mission several times even. Even gone back to previous saves and re-accepted the mission. I can never release the prisoner.
I can only think of two things. There is a key somewhere I need to find, but can't. Or, this is a very bad bug in the game. A very, very bad bug since it has ended the game for me. There are NO other missions available. And I'm only at 69% complete!!!
If its the mission where you go to the building that u have to open the door it confused me for awhile too after i restarted the mission 3 times before i realized that a "pole" that blends into the wall from certain angles is actually a ladder on the backside... just go up the ladder and you will find the prisoner up top
If you mean the ladder that's inside the building and goes through the hole in the floor to the second floor, yes I've found that the first time through. I was rather happy to find it then because I was hoping to release the prisoner without having to fire a single shot cause I was able to sneak in the back and go directly into the building.
But, it almost sounds like you mean something outside the building?
sorry no, was referring to the ladder with the hole inside. thought that was the one you wree talking about since i went thru all the same steps in finding it such as burning and blowing up everything to rule out that it wasnt outside somewhere. \ one thing i can say that might help a bit is that there are no KEYS in the entire game so that isnt the problem
anyone have an idea for this? i've been stuck on this for 2 days, i am at 65% and have no other missions to do, i've reloaded 20 times, tried going in without killing anyone, killing everyone and nothing works, thrown grenades and what not at the building hopefully maybe i can just kill the guy, right now i have 2 buddies i think, maybe i can kill one of them and see if that works
Aaaarrrghhhh....me too. I actually came to the forum thinking maybe I was missing a key or some other weird thing as well. I've thrown grenades at the building, IEDs, anything I can think of. Cannot do anything but wonder around shooting people or searching for diamonds. Game is at a standstill because the blasted door won't open and it looks like this is a genuine, game-stopping bug. What to do?
what about trying to kill the prisoner? It it helps, he is sitting against the wall above the main door, try firing a rocket launcher to kill him or something?
Pretty crap but it might get you past the mission?
I already tried blowing that building to hell but wont move past it. i emailed ubi and they gave that same generic bs response of check the forums, its a gameplay questions, bunch of retards. I even installed the patch and nothing, i gave up and started all over and chose another character, hopefully it works this time

I found a foreign web site talking about this problem and one post was "you need to find the key" the next one was Thank you thats great!
Now I have been allover that Village been on top and under anything and everything and not found a thing.
Maybe it is a game play thing, but seeing that the rest of the game is not like this why would they start now?
Blech. Nothing. I have been looking forward all week to playing FarCry2 with my Saturday afternoon and instead I am stuck on the dreaded Mighty Sediko Door Bug. Blarg.

I mean seriously, what is the hangup? It is a door. It is supposed to open. Fix the freakin thing so that it opens.

This is not some minor little bug like a guy who spawns in a wall now and again. It is a freakin game-ending, ruinous, you're finished, game is busted, FINIS kind of problem. Fix the blasted thing please. The longer you wait the more players will be hung on the bug and the more frustrated they are going to be. Where is the value in sitting around doing god-knows-what instead? The problem was reported like a week ago. Fix it. Just delete the freakin door if you want, I do not care. I just want to keep playing the game!
After nearly completing the game,only for my save not to load,i restarted the game,I got to 8% and i had to rescue the Indian guy from the back room in the slaughter house.As normal the map had a red ring where i had to go for my mission.So i got to the slaughter house killed all the enemies and released the Indian (buddy) from the back room.I then went back outside and started making my way to Mikes bar,Only to notice the red signs were still pointing towards the slaughter house,I then checked my map and the slaughter house was still marked on my map with the red ring.So i went back to the slaughter house and went straight to the back room where i had to rescue the captive.But he was'nt there!So i headed back to Mikes bar anyway,and on arrival he was sitting there but when i press start and look at my mission details,it still tells me to release him from the slaughter house.The red ring is still marking the slaughter house but he is in Mikes bar ffs....This is a joke UBI SOFT!
The only thing I can think of is: the people who got past this are the ones lucky enough to pick the specific character who actually shows up at the Sediko place as their playing character.

EXACTLY what happened to me when I played it, the work around is to instead of accepting the mission in the HQ, you don't. You go directly to that location and release him. And you should have the "objective complete message" shows up. Good luck man...

If you are 120% sure that there's no survivor, then there are 2 things left:
#1: Its a bug, simple as that, ANNOYING AS HELL!
#2: ( i have actually experienced this ) A few enemies that belong to that area just ran away. Yes, when i was doing a mission a week ago, i saw some people just run away towards the forest, they were enemies that i had to kill in order to "Free a prisoner / open a specific door"
Luckily, i havent encountered ANY bug since i bought the game 2 weeks ago. Anyway, Good luck!!
Thank for all the feedback everyone. It's a bit disconcerting to find out this is a common problem. Since I was playing on XP and had other problems, I decided to install Vista. I'm on Vista 32 bit now. Game plays very well, and with better performance. I also re-started the game and I'm only at 12% now. I really hope I don't run into this problem again.
