I was wondering about the console ports to the ps3 and xbox 360 version of far cry 2. Will the games have weather effects, god rays and other dx10 effects even if they are on consoles. If they are how will the consoles maintain a 60fps in the open worlded game of 50 square km of land

I'm pretty sure that the 360 and PS3 cant run directX10 but as far as the graphics go for 360 and PS3 we can proably expect the equilvalent maybe a bit better than what ever engine Bethseda used in Oblivion so the Graphics should ba able to go bit past that level of graphics but I don't know about it being able to use directX10 on a Console. So my guess is just look at Oblivion, its proably going to be close to what the graphics in that game are.

According to thier developer blog the quality will be the same for all systems:
"Today we have a blog-exclusive in-game shot of one of our characters running on PC in the highest quality setting available, the same level of quality preserved in the console versions." Though one thing that doesn't sit well with me is that Ubisoft said that if Crysis gets ported to consoles there will be no X360 version because it cannot support the graphics, but Far Cry 2 has the same system requirements as Crysis so how does that work? |

The graphics will be nice on the consoles but certainly don't expect it to look like the PC version.

In short thats the most precise answer you can get right now. |

Ubisoft has nothing to do with Crysis, I think you mean Cevat Yerli of Crytek said that. The system spec for FC2 have not been released yet. |

Sorry, now i really don't know, what's happening. I take up a very amateur quastion, but the answer will be important for me:
Is it sure, that the PS3 version won't be as "good" as the PC (-or Xbox360-) version ?! I know, "good" is subjective, but i think everybody understand my real quastion. |

the console versions will have everything, that's for sure, graphics aren't going to be as good as on a pretty pumped pc but I think they can make it look gorgeous anyway...what bothers me is something else: are we going to see other problems like screen tearing, pop in and random framerate drops like in some other ubisoft titles? this would really detract from the experience, games like assassin's creed and rsx vegas2 are ruined by those issues

Ah, thanks for the reply. This makes me a little bit happier. But it's very interesting, that a console's graphic -on a Full HD TV- won't be as pretty as in a strong PC. And the quastion is, how many people have got this sort of PC. I've got a PS3, so i will play with Far Cry 2 on my PC-s monitor (in HD quality) or on a full HD Tv i'll buy . I hope, it will be fine! |

PS3 and XBOX 360 are powerfull systems but ever since dx 10 cards came out they could never have the full features included in the game. Consoles will not have equal graphics thats for sure and unless they can somehow find new technology for consoles to support dx 10 they cannot have full features.
So my question is how will PS3 and 360 contain everything? If ac (assassins creed) had the worst frame rate problem on the ps3 how will the ps3 keep a good frame rate in far cry 2 even if crysis couldn't be ported to consoles. Even if PS3 has a 6 cell processor it still doesn't support dx 10. My second question is how will it have weather effects?(weather is a dx 10 feature) |
In one video it said "don't worry the team has been working very hard to make no compromises on the console version of the game" if true how will dx 10 featured be included in the game?
another question why doesn't somebody from UBI reply? |

If the concsole versions will be more poor than the PC ones, then i really don't know, what will i do. Because i won't tune up my PC because of a game. Now i have a 1 G Ram etc.. PC, but Far Cry 2 's advised requirement will be 3G < ...
Pfff, who has a PC with 4-5 G Ram ? Because i think 90% of people -want buy the game- has not. As a matter of fact, before i buy anything, i'll wait the gameplay videos (on PS3) after the game came out. I hope the bests! |

Whoa....
I dont know who told you that, but I can guarantee that those specs are way off. XP Can only use 3GB MAX ram, I dont think a 64bit XP or VISTA can use more than 4GB (though I may be wrong). No specs have been released for the game, wait until they have, and like you say you have seen the game in action on your prefered platform before making any upgrade decisions. CuZ |

64 bit vista can hold more than 4gb of ram.
The system requirements for a a game is usually different between xp and vista. Probably require 2gb of ram for xp and 3gb for vista but most likely i am wrong and maybe you will require only 2gb. Still my question is how are dx10 features going to be included in Far Cry 2 for PS3 and XBOX 360? |
PS3 DOESN'T USE DX10; it uses OpenGL. So I don't even know how you can begin to make any educated statements regarding technical differences between the PC and PS3 versions, considering it's an apples-and-oranges comparison between APIs.
Then explain how will PS3 and XBOX 360 have weather effects?
all it means is it wont have dx10 wheather effects. dx 9 has wheather effect i can name 5.
i just put the dx unlock pack on crysis (you know, the one that unlocks all the bits yuri hid so you had to buy vista to play with all bells n whistles) n its still **** and take,s 2 hours to complete i really need this game as im all out of stuff to play although stalker clear skys wasnt bad umbongo is great and deserve,s a prize for most creative twit going |

I will just wait till the game comes out or XBOX 360 and PS3 or a trailer comes out.
