I just purchased Far Cry 2 for Xbox 360, and am already frustrated over the game. After browsing through the forum, it seems there are a bunch of unfixed bugs, and unfortunately, it seems I may have run into one that will end my game before it even really began. I'm only at 1% complete, and I started the game today after downloading the patch.
Here's where I am: I just finished the "get the 1st diamond" mission, and was sent to Mike's Bar to talk with people about malaria medication. When I enter Mike's bar, there is nobody there (in fact, I've noticed there are some floating newspapers where a table should be). So, I go over to the weapon shop, and again, there's nobody there. I can sleep and come back, same thing. The single player campaign won't advance, and I don't know what to do. I'm only 15 minutes into the game, and I've already restarted the game 3 times as different characters with the same result. Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by this, as Mike's Bar is for getting side missions from buddies, and nothing more.
If you've retrieved the initial 10 diamond case, from the tutorial, you are instructed to go and purchase a new weapon from the gun shop. use the computer to buy it(no gun shop owner is present, yet) then go next door and pick it off the wall.
Once you've gotten the mission completed message, check your mission planner for instructions. Malaria pills will come from a meeting with the Priest in Pala.
