Cuz only closed it, and redirected you to this one, because this thread is the best place for everyone to post about what they'd like to see in a patch. Having them all in one thread makes it much easier for the Forum Managers and Community Devs to collect information. It also stops good constructive criticism and ideas from being lost among all the other threads. Official Whisky taster and Herald to the Mighty Alderbranch. "The clues are out there.....S.N.A.F.U." CAN SOMEONE STICKY THIS THREAD TO THE TOP SO MAYBE DEVELOPERS CAN SEE THIS? THANKS!
Ive had Far Cry 2 since day 1. My teammates and I really enjoy Far Cry 2 and we play it daily. The problems that we have been seeing and experiencing with other players is the lack of care for this game by developers to make this game convenient for its players. After having lots of talks with other random players, here are a few things that people hate about this game and in my opinion draws them away from this game besides the fact that new released games are taking the toll as well.. Over the last few weeks, ive notice a HUGE decline in players playing Far Cry 2... Heck even GameBattles teams have been inactive and theirs only like 10 of them to begin with.. Issue # 1... Player Invite = I think the developers of Far Cry 2 tried sooooo hard to keep players from stat paddling in "ranked servers" that in reality it made it difficult for others who are just their for normal play.. If a player wants to stat cheat, he will and theirs nothing developers can do to stop it unless THEY take the TIME and ban peoples account for specious stats! I think "player INVITE" to a RANK server is a must fix! People still join together because theirs nothing that will ever stop friendship, but it is a hassle reconnecting everyone all the time. Issue # 2. Servers crash at the end of each round on ranked servers..... Developers need to understand that it takes up to 10 minutes at times just to fill a server and so having a server "reset/crash" at the end of each map will only frustrate players for spending so much time just to get into a game. Why would someone play a game for 4 hours and spend 1 hour of that time just getting into servers? Issue # 2. Server Names.. I think people are sick and tired of joining a server and the host not being their while the server is full... The host meanwhile is spending his time elsewhere (like the toilet maybe) while the rest of the players just waiting for him not knowing when he will be back......See if a host has time to walk AWAY FROM XBOX while hosting, you know theirs something wrong this picture. If people can NAME their server, people might recognize a server name that they are familiar to and join it once again knowing the host has a great server. Also, a lot of host BAN good players in the meddle of the game because they are not the ones wining and they want to collect glory in the end. There are more issues with the game but not as big as these.... For all i see, Far Cry 2 is another good game gone bad by lack of developers support. Why does EA make the crappiest un-realistic games ever and yet their the most popular? Look how convenient they are to get started and be played instead of good games like Far Cry 2 and project IGI 2 and Delta Force 2. Just my 2 cents... I think its already 70% late to save Far Cry 2 because most of the people who bought the game have stopped playing it, but at least theirs still a chance.... I just cant believe with all the competition Far Cry 2 is facing against other games they would take their sweet time to fix missuses like this. Simply amazing to me. |

Or maybe Ubisoft can just add remove the option for players to host ranked servers, and have Ubisoft host their own. Quickmatching like Halo would be nice, people get in, match up and play, rinse and repeat.
Despite whether you like Halo or not, we can learn from its success. You can still allow voting for map switching/team switching. Then it would solve the problem of host banning. Also would be nice to party up and go game to game, same team with people in your party, then again that would be hard to implement for the PC version. SO an invite option would be nice during ranked. |

Over 1 month - and no new patch - gee what a surprise. Keep collecting the same bugs - I imagine you have added bandwidth to host more pages in the forum instead of just fixing them.
No toggle on iron sights? Is this 1994? And basic key mapping would be a great help. I am normally a patient guy - but the basic errors are ridiculous. How hard is it to collect basic programming from other successful games and incorporate them from day 1? But we know the answer - you are milking the holiday season to keep the sales going (though due to errors and bugs, getting horrid reviews and sales have dropped like a rock) and may get around to a fix - of the most basic and inane issues from the start. Or you will pull the ole "see ya", familiar with gaming publishers and producers who just dont care and disappear. Bravo for the graphics, the rest is a mess. |

BTO -
BS. You are instructed to keep a happy face, knowing over a month has gone by and 99% of the initial issues are being repeated over and over again. How many times does someone need to say "can we get better key mapping", knowing the key mapping is archaic, etc. I imagine 80% of programmers were either fired or have moved on to other bilking projects - hence the delay in providing a basic patch to fix basic issues. 1.01 doesnt fix half of what it is supposed to fix, developer 101 bait and switch. Put something out there immediately to act like you care, even if its useless, then sit around collecting "issues" for 6 weeks and do nothing. Have a sense of integrity and simply tell the truth. See my previous post as to the business reasons for doing nothing. Just say "we may get around to fixing the issues, but due to poor release and poor 1.01 patch - sales are plummeting and reviews are killing us, so we are dropping any support of the game. I think its hysterical publishers and developers act as if gamers haven't been around the block once or twice. |

I would love nothing more than just for them to reduce the Fadeout/Respawn timer... Almost 10 seconds to blackout, should be like 3 seconds, and a 5 second Respawn Timer... 10 is still quite long.
Please, UBI!!! (ALthough I've blown off some steam too, I'll admit it's a great game still, but I really think the respawn timers NEED to go down, and we need more host options like getting # of diamonds in Player Matches to start with, or inviting friends to ranked matches. THe game has been released, we can't expect them to fix it up to perfection, but we need to fix some key issues that are holding its potential back like the long respawn timers. THis game would rock 100x more if the respawn timers were short or even non-existent like Deathmatch. (ironically, I'm probably the one to die the least in Ranked, my K/D is 1.63 (last night broke record of 30 kills to get 36 >_> , but the respawn timers being reduced or removed would mean more action for anyone regardless if you are dead or losing or winning. THat makes everyone happy) |

Tonight I thought of an idea to make choosing a Captain in Uprising fair, effective, and random.
While waiting in the lobby screen for the match to start, right next to your player's name is a Captain icon. If you want to be in the lottery to be Captain, you check the icon next to your name. If you don't want to be a Captain, you leave it unchecked (snipers). The match doesn't start until there are enough people readied up AND one person from each team goes into the Captain lottery. This makes it fair for a "noob" to become Captain if he/she wants to, but it also makes sure that the person who's going to be a Captain WANTS to be Captain. I think this is the best possible method for choosing a Captain. It creates the "random" Captain selection UBI wanted originally, but this method prevents people that A: Don't know what they're doing / B: Don't want to be Captain, all while keeping it fair for the entire server. |

great solution my ideas for a patch [PS3] -ranked- a. Banning requires 75% vote in favor (can be called by host once only) b. Aim acceleration adjustable c. Friend invites or party system (like in player matches) d. XP lost after match (Your account has been disconnected from fc2 server) e. Hardcore mode where more damage dealt (tweak damage from noob tubes but increase rocket damage) f. Disable auto-aim from ranked matches option -unranked- 1. everybody starts with 3 diamonds my 2 cents |

Just add the entire P.E.C. Persistent Elite Creation from Rainbow Six into Far Cry. That would solve the ranking issues and allow us to tweak the look of our avatar.
We need more gameplay options also. |

Just made a post about this and found this thread, so I'll repost.
I'm just curious if this game is going to be updated to fix the problems it has. I realize it is relatively new and it is expected to have some bugs, but so many things in the game seem unpolished or not thought through. I just picked it up 2 days ago so I'm still giving it a chance. I really was expecting something so much better, which it still can be, if it is fixed. This game has the potential to be so much better if it is improved. I'm really hoping someone at Ubi reads this, I really want to like this game, but so many little things add up for me that they bug me while I play. Here are a few things I have been bugged by: 1. The controls are not fluid, when looking it always seems sort of laggy offline and on. The best example of how game controls are meant to be for me is COD4. If the control issues are addressed it will greatly improve the game experience. It is annoying to be unable to track an enemy because of control issues. Switching weapons is affected by this, I'll press the d-pad to swap weapons, but the reaction is so slow that I end up being killed before pulling out my pistol. 2. Fire affects in the game to me seem unrealistic. I'm being nitpicky I know, but I'm going to school to be a fire fighter, so I can pick out things in this regard. I through a molotov directly into a tree and it did not catch on fire, same goes for the flame thrower. The manner in which the molotov explodes is also unrealistic. The fire doesn't react or act like it really would. 3. Not being able to go prone really gets me. It doesn't make sense not to be able to lay down while sniping or while being sniped (trying to avoid dying). The first far cry included this and it disappoints me that it was left out. 4. Pressing a button to climb a latter is not a big issue but it does bug me. It wastes time doing what could be done automatically like in Halo 3 and COD4. Again this is a minor complaint but something that bugs me. 5. The damage that the weapons inflict also is a point I would like to address. I've shot someone with a pistol 4 times and it did not take them down. I've been point blank next to an enemy and fired 1/4 of a clip into him and he is able to turn around and blast me with the shotgun (shotguns are done nicely however, they have range which the ones in COD4 and Halo 3 do not). I would like to be able to put someone down when I shoot them, and currently it is difficult to do so in a realistic manner. 6. Blurred vision while running also seems out of place. The only times I can recall getting blurred vision from running is after either being dehydrated or running for an extended period of time, not sprinting. This is just a minor issue but something that bugs me. 7. No load out customization I think was a very bad decision. I found it so cool to be able to choose what I would carry in COD4, their load out system is by far the best. I don't like not being able to pick up other weapons in the heat of battle. What if my clip goes dry and there is a shotty nearby, I would like to be able to pick it up, but presently can not. I like being able to swap out my weapons to change with my tactics and needs during the game. The current system doesn't allow the player to freely choose what they want, it gives minimal customization options, and it's only by class. I think this game would have been much better had it emulated COD4's load out system. There are a few other minor things that bug me and I may list them later if Ubisoft appreciates the suggestions. I really enjoyed Far Cry on the original Xbox, and I want to enjoy this one as well, but it needs to be improved upon in my opinion. I don't mean to nit pick and be negative, but I really want this game to be as good as the developers said it was going to be. Have any others found different issues that should be given attention? Does Ubisoft plan to improve this game? I really hope they do, let me know what you all know/think. I also forgot to add how the multiplayer match making works. It really shoud altered. I don't like having to find new people to play with every match. Allow join-in-progress and for people to stay in the same lobby please. It would be a very nice addition. |
||||
|
Now don't get me wrong, I love this game but the online needs a lot of work.
1. Be able to customise your load out and weapons ( if that is possible with just an update) 2. Be able to pick up other peoples weapons and ammo. 3. invite friends to ranked matches and stay in the same lobby. 4. Reduce respawn time, it really really ****es me off when I wait 20 seconds for someone to revive me and then if they don't I have to wait another 15 seconds. 5.Get rid of the diamond system for player matches. |
||||
|
Oh yeah and I hope they fix that widescreen issue, I can't play for very long because it gives me headaches if I play too long.

Only hosts of games can damage certain physics objects. It would be nice to have this bug fixed.

[360 version]
When I join a match lobby with a map I don't have, it would be good if there was an option to download the map before the match starts. |

1) Frequent crash to desktop in multiplayer. Seems to happen most often if the FC2 is in windowed mode as opposed to full screen.
2) Death fade-out. After you actually die and can no longer be revived, the fade out death take FAR TOO LONG--especially when often I finally die to find another twenty seconds before I respawn. Thus, in a 15 minute match, if you die once approximately every two minutes, you spend almost 5 minutes (1/3 of the playing time) waiting to respawn. FAR TOO LONG!!!! 3) Multiplayer Interface. This horrid interface could use a complete and total rework. 4) You should be able to see all servers and server names in one screen. The mode can be displayed in a column. 5) The maps available for ranked mode needs to be extended to include all approved custom maps. There are many GREAT custom maps, but little to no access to them in the ranked system. 6) The MGL140 has no place in the multiplayer. All it does is **** off other players. As often as not, some idiot using an MGL140 on your own team kills you. Further, because you die with one shot, there is no way to avoid death in a shoot out. The game would benefit greatly by removing the MGL140. 7) If ubi is determined to continue blocking players from joining in progress ranked matches, then modify the ranked mode interface to show not only the servers that have not yet started, but the ones that are in-game and include the time that remains in each match. 8) Multiplayer ranked mode. Change the feature that disconnects players after each match. This feature substantially prolongs the wait time to begin new matches. Thus, you spend more time in lobby waiting for players to join than playing the actual game that we paid for. 9) Rank Structure & Weapons Pick-Up: I actually like the rank and diamond structure. I do not want some noob to pick up my AS50 or my M249. It took me a while to get the range of my premier weapons, as well as to build up the accuracy with them. That is the basis of the rank structure. I believe that it would be a mistake to allow players to pick up weapons from other players. There is no weapons purchase system like, for example, as is found in Crysis. Because weapons are not obtained through purchases while in-game as they are in Crysis, I do not support the weapons pick up that others are suggesting. |

multiplayer PC patch 1.02 features like playing more than one game with the same host NEED to get patched on consoles as well
|

Now that 1.02 is here and the first "major" patch for FC2 is out...I feel it's time to address all of the issues with your game.
As a long time member of the Far Cry community and someone who deals with a LOT of people in this community, I'm going to go over things that have been discussed with many different admins / players throughout your community. Some have been stated MANY times before...but Ubi, please take the time to at least read through and evaluate...thanks in advance. Major Issues are highlighted GREEN General Fixes - Make keybinds stick. I know many people who won't play FC2 online because their key setup doesn't work. - Crash to desktop happens a lot in this game. Not sure how to fix that, but a lot of people get it on an assortment of systems. - Random disconnects from servers. - Punkbuster issues need to be reduced. Too many people I know have issues. You guys should have a talk with Evenbalance. - You guys gave us a Server Browser, but it doesn't save our filters! Filters should not have to be re-applied every time. - Crouch should be completely customizable. Not everyone uses "your' method. - In CTD, it shows players as the diamond carrier, after they lose the diamond. Minor glitch. - Memory leak with Shadows. Check out the map Boabab Arena. Run it for a few days on a dedicated server....watch your frames drop to 10fps, down from 80. I've also noticed minor leaks while editing my map. I'm pretty sure my map, also, has a leak from the shadows. - "Join Custom Match" should be listed above Quick Match. The server browser is the method of choice for every single gamer I've played with. Please adjust the list to accommodate the majority of your players. - "Join Custom Match" is not a good way to communicate to new players where to find the server browser. It should be named "Server Browser" Gameplay Fixes - Add sway to sniper while standing and decrease sway when crouched. - AS50 needs to be a two shot gun. Headshot = instant death. Every other part of the body should require two shots. - Grenade shaking radius needs to be toned down. I shouldn't shake from a grenade 50 yards away. - Death fadeout should be reduced a bit so you can get to the spawn timer more quickly. - Grenade or Molotov option for every class. It's annoying not having grenades in certain classes - Reduce the blur while running. I don't get blurry vision when I run. It's not realistic, it's annoying and frustrating. - Customizable Loadouts Server Fixes: - RCON. I cannot admin my own server. Why would I pay for a server hosted by a game host if I cannot admin remotely? Only the person located at the dedicated box has any access. That's ridiculous and unacceptable. - On map rotations, the servers get stuck. Servers need to be rebooted at least once a day. People get the "cannot join match at this time", every day. - Being able to run multiple instances of Far Cry 2 on a Dedicated Box. Game hosts cannot offer your game until you do this. - Admin should be to disable certain weapons in Player matches - While using the "Create Match" feature players can connect to my game, sometimes they cannot. It's hit or miss. Not sure what the issue is. We'll be playing a game and after the map ends, they cannot join the next map. (RANKED Mode) The server fixes are huge, HUGE issues. You may not hear much community chatter about them, but they remain the key reason why FC2 servers aren't showing up. I know many clans that would want to run a server, but cannot because you guys didn't release a quality server launcher. Needs to be fixed in the next patch, or the game is done. Ranked Matches - Allow players to join Ranked matches mid-game. This is currently the biggest in-game flaw there is in FC2. Aprox 75% of the games are ruined because the teams become unbalanced mid-game. In PC gaming, it is normal for people leave the server, get kicked by PB, get banned etc etc. Not allowing players to join midgame is suicide. I'm sure you've heard this one before, but GET IT DONE. Allow people to join at any time! Oh, and to fix players from gaining rank joining a match late in the round, just make it so you don't get XP until you play a complete round. That solves that - Give admins a bit more flexibility altering game options. Uprising Fixes - Need a centered splash indicator at the beginning of the match letting the Captain know he/she IS Captain. An icon in the top right corner doesn't cut it. People spend half the match not even knowing they are the captain. - The Captain selection system needs to be altered. Currently, more than half of the Uprising battles are ruined because the Captain does not want to be Captain, does not know he/she is captain, does not understand what a Captain is. This is fine. Here is a method to eliminate this flaw. CTD Fixes - Fix the location of the diamonds on some maps. Some of your diamonds are RIGHT next to spawn points. I doubt this will be fixed, but I'm throwing it in there. Great list, LZ, great job.
I'll tell you the two things that I believe are most important: 1) joining or changing teams in in-progress ranked games. 2) RCON and multiple servers per box. I say this as one of the few guys on this planet running a dedicated FC2 server 24/7. |

I vote for this too man |
