Wow time flies...

The original Far Cry was released almost 3 and a half years ago, the console versions seem like an age back already.

I've already seen a few "old school" friends popping back with the official news of FC2, and I'm sure that there are some posters on the forum that predate even my lurking on here.

If you were a Far Cry forums regular, whose activity level has lapsed, but are back now to see what FC2 is all about lets hear from you!

Who do you remember from the old days and hope to catch up with in Far Cry 2?

Guess I would qualify as a lapsed FC forums participant?

Got a bit fed up with the whole, "my map is better than yours" and "Your maps are the suxors" attitudes (and that was just from the "adults") so decided that it was better to just walk away for awhile to lower my blood pressure...

Finally, it will be really interesting to see how the FC PC crowd and the FC Console crowd get along in these threads. Hope to make some NEW friends in the process!

So...let's see, been playing a lot of GRAW2 (check out sonicarmy.com for some FUN Ladder action), Vegas, Shadowrun, etc...

Look forward to catching up with a few friends from the FCI and FCIP days (where is Fallen these days?)

...and really looking forward to FC2 be it on PC or console (or both eventually)!

As for a certain note about a potential "patch" thread... lol ...I actually considered re-introducing myself that way...

I've been hiding, making this game. You may have heard of it, it's called Far Cry 2.

Oh wait, I guess I don't really count huh?

Would you guys believed that I signed up to the Ubisoft forums because of Far Cry? Of course you would, look at my join date.

I only posted here a few times I think, came back when rumors of an add on pack surfaced, desperately wanting more far cry content.

Basically 2004 was a great year for me. Doom 3 hit later on and then Half-Life 2 rounded out the trio of big shooters. I've been playing games like BF2, BF2142, CS:S online a lot since that time.

Along with lots of other great games like supreme commander, stalker, oblivion just to name a few. I've still been around though, visiting other forums. Hopefully I stick around a bit longer this time

I have been here answering questions as best I can but the PC forums have been slow. Playing Far Cry has dropped from every day to three times a week.

Huntsman33 is a hopeless WOW addict I hear.

Well guess what im still playing farcry since day one and yes i am still a noob, i have also spent 3 years stalking CuZ in other places.

basically i have tried other games but always come back to farcry and still miss the old days when good old GodsWork first appeard

Well, I've been playing FC on and off for quite a while, and hosting it for even longer!

Looking forward to some more arguments over whose server config is better than whose and who is going to run PB and who thinks it sucks.

Seems like quite a few familiar faces here already

My server config will be better than yours, and PB will still suck. There, glad to throw the first stone.

Haven't posted on the UBI forum for a while though. Only because I don't like Cuz Bloody blue nose indeed

What other games

Well I was away from the FC Ubi forum for some time sufficing with occaisional Filefront FC forum posting out of a conscious decision I made that, well, netted me no other options. I have no regrets, the time away was a change of pace and I probably got in more gaming diversity during that period because of it. I have since bought Prey, Area 51, FEAR EP, GRAW, NFS Carbon, HL2 Episode 1, Star Wars Battlefront II and Just Cause.

None of the above are on par with FC except for maybe HL2 E1. Regardless, the change of pace has done me some good. I found myself planning to play the above titles more than once, but before having done so found myself checking for more FC custom map content.

I must say that though I have really enjoyed the custom maps that still are being made, I tend to agree with the above post that speaks of the pettiness that goes on comparison wise with such content. It has gotten to the point where I refuse to comment on them anymore due to the flaming that persists on the slightest of criticisms even from others whom make far worse comments than I. Though FC is and always will be one of my most beloved games, the community for it in some respects is very cliquish and hypocritical when it comes to talk of custom content.

Lastly, I am trying desperately to get a chance to play the Crysis beta demo which is supposed to be part of the Extreme Gaming Tour put on by Dell & Intel. Their first stop is in my town but the latest word is Crytek will not be ready to release the code this weekend (due to security reasons) and they are scrambling to see if it will even play on the tour's PCs that have Vista 64 bit.

One particularly nice staff member of the tour, whom is a GMR Account Exec, is looking into making it possible for me to somehow play it. It is my hopes once they get the code thing sorted he can burn me a disc and send it to me or at least post it somewhere I can retrieve it.
