I prefer the GT o the new GTS Wink . The GTS is better than the Ultra , and the GT has better ratio perfomance / price.

And the micro ... I prefer a simply Core duo 2

The Blackbird 02 is a impressive & over priced system. I love the case layout but if you have the skills you can build a comparable rig for much cheaper. If you don't and can afford $6K+ (SLI Ultras) then go for it.

As for the GT vs GTS you can compare here...

Wow that hardware is quite dated. I'd make sure to buy a new PC once FC2 is out Big Grin

I think that computer would struggle to boot up, let alone run Crysis or FC2.

You need something like this (and Im guessing for the sake of it).

Whaaaa!? The GTS is better than the Ultra? I assume you are joking, but in case you don't know, It's called the ultra for a reason mate: because it is the best of all of them. The GTS is actually the bottom of the 8800 line. It actually goes like this, from lowest to highest: GTS, GT, GTX, Ultra, and then any overclocking on the ultra like on the one I have (660mhz core and 2300mhz/1150mhz memory from the factory, plus the water cooling OC options).

Thank you for clearing up what I already know. Not bad mouthing the Ultras (I got one too) but you need to consider that they are the G80 GPU series (as all the models you mentioned). I believe ORI1 is speaking about the new generation G92 series GT & GTSs...and in case you don't know they beat the Ultras in....

Core Clock Speed-Ultra=612 GTS=650
Shader Clock Speed-Ultra=1500 GTS=1625
Texture Fill Rate-Ultra=39.2 GTS=41.6
PCI Express 2.0-Ultra=NO GTS=YES
Video Processor-Ultra=VP1 GTS=VP2
..and maybe even more important.....
MSRP-Ultra=$699 GTS=$299-$349 which I think is ORI1's point.

Yes the Ultra does beat the GTS in the memory catagories like...
Memory Clock Speed
Memory Size
Memory Interface and more importantly...Memory Bandwidth.

So bang for the buck....the new G92 GTS is my choice also.
Btw the G92 GT=$199-$249...still a good buy.

XTox1cX,
Your rig is borderline state of the art. It's a monster. It will run any game you throw at it; even games that aren't already out yet like Far Cry 2. You're set for 2 years.

Some people have said that the 8800GT is a better deal and yeah it's puts out less heat and gives about the same level of performance but this is a minor complaint.

Since you motherboard has SLI you can always toss in another graphics card if you need to but that would be overkill in my opinion.

You say that you are running Vista. Are you running the 64 bit version of Vista? I strongly suggest you go to the 64 bit version. You've built a state of the art PC you may as well take the plunge and get the most out of it by using a 64 bit operating system.

At $5000.00 plus tax and shipping with and only a 1 year warranty it's not a good deal.

The same configuration (except Stacker 830 case and Silverstone 1200w PSU) from Newegg costs around $3000.00 (not including watercooling).

Same config with 2x 150GB Raptor Drives (raid0 Wink), 2x 500GB sata2 drives, Asus Striker II 780i MB, 2x EVG 8800 Ultras and the price is around $4400.00....still $600.00 for watercooling Hammer.

So basically as Unure said overpriced.
Throw in the fact that the ram and the vidcards have a limited lifetime warranty, most harddrives have a 3 year warranty (Raptors have 5 year), also most quality PSU's have at least a 3 year warranty it's just not a good buy for your money.

6000$? If money isn't a problem for you, you might wanna consider something like this:
http://www.pinktentacle.com/2008/01/pc-cases-made-from-platinum-gold-diamonds/

I'd sure like a computer case made of pure platinium patterned with diamonds. Wink Hopefully it would retain it's value a bit longer than the avarage computer...

Since you already have the Blackbird then enjoy it. Just you can afford the $$ then I say good for you and btw, if you throw any parties then remember to ask me!! Big Grin Like I said before I really love the design of the case...then again I'm lazy! I have to repair/replace/upgrade/troubleshoot business machines everyday and it would be sweet to be able to do it with a Blackbird case. Its not too bad since most of the machines are Dell PCs and Laptops but still.....

I never get a chance to mess with EA's power PCs. The R&D guys have that privilege, so I at least can tweak mine.

All this talk of old/new graphics cards is very nice but why buy a machine with the old 680i chipset when you local store could build you a better machine with the new 780i chipset and the new G92 GPU graphics card.
