Ubisoft and Xbox Game Zone have teamed up to organise a series of Sunday tournament matches with some exclusive Far Cry 2 clothing as prizes!
Qualifiers are running this and next Sunday (January 11th and 18th 2009) with the Semi Finals and Finals on following weekends. Think you've got what it takes? You can find out more about the rules and how to enter here! _________________ Ubi.Vigil Community Manager Ubisoft UK |

finally a contest for the xbox 360. to bad its only for the UK i cant play. if there is a tournament it shouldn't matter where you live.
I am angry that ubisoft would support this tournament as it dose not support all the community. |

I'm assuming you want to increase your player audience, but then you go and make it UK-only. That's just dumb.

yah i agree this is pretty friggin stupid. why would you promote a uk only tourny in the far cry american site. are you trying to **** ppl off. i have as of yet had the privlige to meet a person with a brain that works for ubisoft. dont you guys get it yet "this game is dead". it was taken out to the woods, shot in the back of the head exicution style and buried in a shallow grave. all because you refuse to patch it. watch how much your next installment sales.....................LOL

Who ever told you this was the American site? This is the ENGLISH language site, and not specific to any particular country. Official Whisky taster and Herald to the Mighty Alderbranch. "The clues are out there.....S.N.A.F.U." Maximum Settlers | Maximum-Gamers | Anno Fans | Settlers Maps | |

To clarify a few points for those comments so far.....
I understand the frustration at this being UK only, I am sure the UK community feel the same when such an event is US only as often happens. There are 2 main reasons for this being UK only, the main being timezones. There is such a huge difference between the UK and US timezones that holding such a tournament allowing both communities to participate while working the tournament at times to fit around the typically available ‘peak’ online times that players can attend would be an impossible task. The next issue is that of posting prizes which may seem a minor problem but I am sure anyone who has ever posted overseas will understand can make a big difference to costs and ultimately impact the frequency that this kind of event can take place. Now all that said..... IF there are any US players here who wish to participate, who can be available to play at the GMT times stated in the event rules AND accept that should they win they would forfeit their prize to the player below them and would gain nothing more than the joy of participating and kudos for their finishing position then I am more than happy to accept those players into this tournament |

Timezones aren't a big problem for Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland (?), Norway, Ireland/Scotland etc.
International shipping costs aren't that much... a game fits in most mailboxes, so doesnt need to be a package. Just an envelope with air-bubbles. 2 euros max for packaging, and 3 euros or something for international post (according to our postal services). A whopping 5 euros per prize winner. |

This event should have been hosted by dual sites allowing US/UK participation. even if it was two seperate events. The Idea is to bring people back to the game.
I would also like to point out that I have been running a regular game at 12:30pm EST on Sunday for about 3 years. Half of the people who show up are from various parts of the UK. It is only a average differance of 5 hours between the US/UK. Being hosted on a Sunday Makes it easy for people to be available. The 12:30 timeframe was chosen because it allowed people from the US west Coast to participate as well. since for them my game begins at 9:30am I have also hosted numerous Contests on fcmaps.net These have always been open to US/UK entrants. I have many times purchased the prizes out of pocket or made them myself. Shirts, Custom Faceplates, even games. To send any of those three Items overseas using Media Mail (cheapest cost) will run you between $6-$15 dollars with Insurance. I also do ebay and regularly ship to the UK. Also the prizes if Supplied by Ubisoft can be shipped to the winners by them or shipped to the host of the Contest who can ship them Out. Any money spent on prizes and shipping costs is also a tax writeoff. Ubisoft just gave me a copy of Prince of Persia. They sent it to me from Canada in four days. Just in time for Christmas. Honestly Ms Kleaneasy, while this Tourney is a nice Idea, All of the limitations you mentioned are easily surmountable and would have opened this Contest up to more people overall. Hell I would even have posted a news Item on the front page of my site and gotten another one Genesis Device Who we work in conjunction with to do the same. @UBISOFT: Since my business just became a victim of the US economic collapse, I am unemployed and looking for work. Hire me to Do a lot of this type of thing and I will help you improve your public Image. |

I think part of that thing about "improving public image" might be to at least announce a patch for the 360 version before announcing tournaments, contests, etc. Just saying.

y only in uk?

You know whats ****? The fact that Ubisoft is setting up tournaments while multiplayer doesnt even works! All ubisof employees should be working on the servers now and bring out a few thousand patches but no, lets just pretend theres nothing wrong with the game and act like a customer-friendly company.

The developers are already working on a patch. It's the job of their promotional department to continue promoting the game. They're just doing their job. |
