@ VastShadowz
FC3 really could use a coalition-system, so at least the guys you work for don't shoot you, ridiculous, i agree. But it's still a country in a civil war and you are a heavily weaponed freelancer, so travelling can be difficult. (Why you can use busses without problems i don't know... :P). Anyway, you can avoid lots of fighting if you don't use the roads and sneak by the posts. To the "bullet-soaking-enemies" - yeah, sometimes. With the sniper rifles you need only 1 shot to head or chest, other weapons could be stronger. To the glitches - i never had a corrupted save game or mission i couldn't solve so i had to start a new game. I'd be VERY angry of course and i can understand the people who are, but i only had some minor bugs and had to let enemies respawn 3-4 times in underground missions or when i wanted to unlock a safehouse. I still like the game 'cause - you feel to be inside of it - the fresh "africa" setting (with the "pretty"graphics, i admit) - the dark story - the diffrent ways to do the missions - the great atmosphere (graphics, sound, day/night change...) - the huge map to explore... Liked mercenaries too, but haven't played "2", so... . |

Well good, don't bother picking up Mercenaries 2 because it's a letdown compared to its predecessor Playground of Destruction.
It's a good game, mediocre at best, and like others have pointed out, it's just flawed with stupid, terrible design decisions. |

Ubisoft itself isn't necessarily bad, they just seem to hire people who dropped out of game design school on Day 1 to make some of their games. Anno 1701 isn't too bad, and its made by Ubisoft. Although I am a little mad that Ubisoft would let a game like this (FC2) get published having so many obvious flaws. It would all be worth it if the actual developers were all fired and forbidden from touching anything electronic ever again.

I can only describe most of you as bitching traitorous swine. Ubi games are fine, in fact they were my favorite games during my childhood(prince of persia FTW), though most Ubi games are good with some flaws in it, so parts of the game seemed to have been designed by a super comptuter while parts seem to be made by 1000 monkeys at typewriters. What they need to do is really test out their games thoroughly, like "are there any flaws you've found?" that could make or break parts of the game. So Ubi games are great, but they could be better.

Farcry2 is a far cry from fine. Most people still can not finish the single player mode due to game freeze. My first run through it froze at 83%, had to go back to a 40% save. 2nd run through, after patch, it froze at least 30 times in different spots past the 80% mark. Pretty much everytime I drove a car or boat...pathetic.
The multi-player has issues as well. The worst in my oppinion being the stupid messages dead center of screen (frome vote calls to game mode announcements) and the way you can through a grenade then die and the grenade ferry magicaly puts the pin back in. I doubt the UBI team even plays video games let alone their own. The best developers like Bungie ead the forums and address problems. They also play the games (not just their own). I know this to be true since the Halo multi-player lead designer is a personal freind (we worked at same Architecture firm before he went to Bungie). |

Used. After a month so I can find out whether game breaking glitches exist before investing over 30 hours in the first half of the game. edit Ubisoft... like they really didn't know that there was a game ending glitch.

Well, it saddens me when I stumble across a thread which has turned into a rant. And it's even more surprising to know that why do we have such topics in the first place ? But no taunt/offense intended to the OP or anyone else here. I understand the predicament faced by many of you and I'm not denying it. So don't get me wrong here.
Why can't you keep this in a constructive way ? Nobody forces you to buy any DEV's product and/or support them, be it Ubisoft or any other developer for that matter. But I agree that if things go wrong, and we don't get the proper support, it can be frustrating sometimes. But 'approaching' that problem from your side shouldn't take the same flavor. If you really disliked Far Cry 2 or any other past game of Ubisoft, then just forget about it. Go for something else which better suits your needs. It's as simple as that. Or just 'accept' the game as it is. Always try to see about some 'unique' and the 'creative' part in any title, let alone FAR CRY 2. Then this won't lead you to any letdown and you will start liking the game, despite any flaws and the lack of official support you got. NOW, if anyone really likes playing Far Cry 2 or any other UBI title and are 'serious' about it, then he/she should seek help from every source possible before jumping to conclusions, and try to support the DEV. Spewing out anger and/or bad-mouthing isn't going to land us anywhere. It only makes things worse and demoralises other gamers and Devs alike. I guess we all are 'mature' enough to understand this ? No DEV including Ubisoft, can release a game/product which can satisfy every gamer and hence make a loyal fanbase. It is WE- 'the gamers/community', who can also make or mar a game's fate. But again this doesn't mean the Developers should forget their part of duty which they need to fulfill, which is responding to us. This works 'both' ways. We can't just blame the Devs. Anyhow, this is just my personal opinion. I don't intend to taunt anyone here. Maybe I'm totally wrong, who knows ? Best Regards, Daniel. This message has been edited. Oh,
BTW I almost forgot to mention that, YES, I will buy for sure another UBI title, be it Far Cry 3 or any other First Person Shooter, as that's the only genre (FPS) which I play. |

Hell yeah, I will.
Assassin's Creed 2 next and definitely Far Cry 3. |

Freeze ups sound like a heat issue to me. Saying that "most people" still cant finish the game is a bit preposterous, isn't it? Unless you have proof, that is. Oh and one more thing. Singing the praises of Bungie because ur a m8 of one of the designers, isn't going to carry much weight with everyone else here. Do you get Bungie games for free? Just askin! |
