I WON'T!!!
I was one of the lucky ones who got a save game glitch 30+ hours into the game. I refuse to start all over and the Ubisoft folks don't even want to acknowledge the problem when I ask them about it. Buggy software + customer service that doesn't care = a company I will never give another cent to!! |

I was definitely dissapointed by Ubi's support for FC2, but I do believe in second chances; however, there is one thing I will never do. Pre-Order a game again. While I did research, joined these forums, and thought it was worth pre-ordering in order to get the extra missions, I have realized that one should never buy something until reviews are out. It's best to wait a couple of days or even weeks to see reviews, glitches and other matters appear and therefore be able to evaluate a game. FC2 is great and im half/half happy with it. THe only bug I've seen (apart from random fail A.I.) is the Jackal Tapes bug, but that's not game breaking, but I'm currently at 50% so theres a long way to go. I also hate the whole Guard Post respawning, I know some have decent explanations for it, but it's a game, and as such I don't want to be annoyed, I want to be entertained. Anyway when it comes to games, never pre-order and wait some time to see Support from the company and if the game truly is fun. As for Ubisoft specificaly I'll just be more picky, but I will give them a second chance if they come out with a good game and do support it. But only then. |

I will not buy another Ubi game at launch. I will wait and see from the forums if it is any good and if it is playable. What I mean by playable is if the product they ship can physically be played. I also post on the forums in the desperate hope that some one at Ubi cares enough to at least show some professional courtesy ...for a change. The lack of communication they show would be bad for business in the least for a well made title. The lack they typically show for $60 games that either don't work on multiplayer or can not be finished on campaign is disgraceful and down right fraudulent. I don't agree with some of the hateful rants I have read on the forums, but I do understand why they are upset and sympathize with their overall position. To date I have no evidence from any one a Ubi that any of their former or current customers should think any thing different. Ubi is leaving the people that pay their salaries only one viable option. Unless they miraculously have a change of heart, vote with your wallet.

Cib24, you seem to be a level headed person that looks through all the frustration and personal emotions to get to the real facts. We have a lot in common. You articulate your positions well with out steering wide from the real issue...except one. You say you are in customer service as am I. When my customers buy something that does not work do to no fault of their own, they get their money back. If they buy something that does preform the task as advertised, they get their money back. All of it. I sure you can appreciate the logic in that to understand where some of these other rants come from.

AndyLFC5 course I will buy a game from Ubisoft again. I have been super happy with playing COD and A.creed for that matter. Really good fun and no problems.
I think it is different teams working on each of their games. I know that the team behind Far Cry 2 is not the same as the team stand behind the Far Cry 1 It was probably a little too much to handle. I hope as soon as possible, they come with an update to repair all the small stupid mistakes especially in multiplayer and then everything will be good again. |

TUIREQUIEM i totally agree in a customer service industry if something isnt working right everything should be done to fix the problem and make the customer happy.
BUT what my point is, is if a customer starts screaming and yelling at me and blaming me for a problem that was in no way intentional (im sure UBI didnt plan to have as many issues with this game as there have been), rather than being polite, respectful and professional. i will fix their problem..... eventually. where as if a customer says to me "hey i'm having problems with this not working...." i'll do everything i can to fix the problem as quickly as possible, and will certainly put that customer ahead of the one going off, talking down to me, telling me "what a piece of crap i gave them etc...." a lot of people these days tend to think that its their RIGHT to treat people poorly or make a mountain out of a mole hill in a lot of cases simply because they think "the customer is always right" or that cus they buy a product or service they can be abusive and or overly demanding (im not saying that the frustration people in here have felt with UBI's lack of communication or support is unfounded or unjustified, tho people were getting pretty rude and uppity while waiting for the patch) i know for me i have told customers their business is no longer wanted and to find someone else a few times in the past, due to rudeness and unrealistic expectations of service. so like i said, i fully support servicing your customers to the best of your ability, but some you intentionally make wait sometimes, tho they are too important to ever realize that their own behavior has caused the delay. but hey, it makes me feel better after they have TRIED to tear a strip off of me.... lol [360 gamertag chrisisbored24 ] |

CIB24 - I agree that we should talk tidy and have a proper tone. What is more to be said, is that I think the marketing of the game is reprehensible. Not a place I have read that the multiplayer does not work. I buy the game because UBI constantly advertise with how well a game is online. I bought the game three days ago. The only place the game does not work is online, and to my beliefs and reading on this forum it never really did. The least they can do is to give the customer there money back. If not, they have to solve problems. It is not a free game you know. All other producers postpone publication if there are problems in the beta. It is unprofessional handling from UBI that there has created angry customers. It is their own fault.
You describe it as a normal tendency of people today. I do not see people gripe so much else than here. ONLY if the treatment you get by payment of a product is so poor as here. I work for Siemens. If this situation had arisen from a subcontractor who could not keep agreements. Had there been a lawyer on it immediately. It is the same. They are just as hard as people on this forum. Just in a more professional manner. their intentions mission is to get the game to function or get the money which they otherwice has lost back! |

well as someone who has been enjoying the online play of this game almost daily since last november i can tell you it hasnt been as bad as in the last month. (to be fair i havent played the game at all this week so i dunno what the servers are doing right now)
but what people need to understand is this isnt just one issue that UBI has ignored since release, there have been a number of things that have broken down, and generally, tho slowly UBI has fixed them (tho apparently PC players are having huge issues with the servers, but i dunno much about that so i cant comment) the game had SP save issues, that was fixed it had weapons imbalance, that was fixed, the map servers died for 7-10 days that was fixed, and we were all given 10 more slots to publish. before the patch player match servers would crash on a regular basis, since the patch i havent noticed as many dropped connections. i know the game isnt free, im guessing you picked it up cheaper than i did (ive noticed it in stores new for like under 30$ here in canada anyway) i also know it hasnt been perfect, and UBI hasnt always been great with communication to say the least, but for my money i still say it was well worth the 60-70$ i paid for it and i have gotten probably hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it to this point. and im betting that if one of your subs wasnt living up to a contract your companies lawyers wouldnt be telling them how useless they were and how their work is complete and total shat and how they are robbing their clients etc in a public forum... there is certainly a way to be assertive and not aggressive/rude when trying to resolve an issue. im in no way saying UBI is the best publisher or that this game is perfection in coding, and that alot of the negative views of them are not their own doing. i guess im just getting tired of the childish tantrums and anouncing to everyone how "i got rid of FC2" or "ill never buy another UBI game again" in here cus its fairly clear UBI either doesnt read, or doesnt CARE about this forum so why bother? if the game is making you mad, sell it, leave this forum and be done with it, move on with your life, why spend any more energy on negative feelings and anger when you can walk away, sell the game for 10-20$ and get something that will make you happy [360 gamertag chrisisbored24 ] |

The SP save issue was not fixed. Reduced significantly the probability of having a corrupted save game* The weapon imbalance seems to be worse than ever from I've played and read. Ubisoft has done little to patch this game, as I have come across numerous bugs/glitches since the release of the 360 patch. And no where does it say they're working on another patch to fix the 3 dozen other problems "missed". The rants of the community are just when little communication is given and next to nothing has been fixed. |

I will have no problem buying a game that is published by ubi,but after fc2 I will waite for reveiw's & see what players are saying in forums before I buy a game made by ubi,no more pre-orders for games they make.

what exactly is wrong with the weapons balance in HC mode? i think its much better now that pre patch. you shouldnt have to unload an entire clip into someone to kill them. and you do realize that Reduced significantly the probability of having a corrupted save game* is basically what they have to say instead of "we fixed it and no one will ever have a corrupted save again" because something like that cant be gauranteed. there are other things that can cause a corrupted file besides a game bug. im curious as to these "3 dozen" other problems with the game, care to give more specifics? cus i havent seen that many issues. ultimately i think talking about "weapons imbalance" is kinda pointless cus its really 100% subjective, i happen to think the AS50 and AR16 should be the 2 best weapons in the game, while someone else might think the MGL should be the best, or the paratrooper, or that it SHOULD take a full clip from an uzi to drop an opponent. to me thats insane. some people want it to be more realistic while others want it to me more like a game where it takes 5 headshots to kill someone. Never again!! The technical support they offer is at best pathetic and at worse flat out incompetent. I contacted them through their website for help with freezing and crashes on my PC. They responded by asking for dxdiag and msinfo reports, so I provided them and they proceeded to tell me to update all my drivers, shut down unneeded services, etc. No problem, I went and installed all the latest drivers and resent the dxdiag and msinfo reports. they responded saying the same damn thing, update drivers, I responded 2 more times explaining I had updated and even gave links and screenshots as proof. They then tell me "we don't support the GTX285" and said they couldn't help me any further. So I decide to call them and talk to someone directly, after 30 minutes of the same old run around, he said he was going to send it to a developer, who turns out to be the guy I was dealing with on the website. Now, I'm not only a pc tech, but also a customer service rep as well and their complete lack of technical support and customer service is appalling. I will never spend another dime with this company or any related to them.

Of course I will buy another Ubi game.
Rainbow 6 (the new one) for instance. Why? Well although a lot of things got messed up, I have the greatest respect for what they tried to do. To break the mold and massively improve evry part of gameplay was always doomed to fail in some aspects but it triumphs in those that work. I only hope the next game that uses this new engine is a little more polished. Infamous difficulty. Sleep in the day. Hunt at night. Silent shotgun, Silent Makarov, Dart rifle. Before bying a game i look for forums like these to decide wether or not to give my cash away... So ubi should care about such negative comments to their products.. Sacred 2 had terrible terrible bugs but atleast they had a dev posting update replys and keeping the forums clean and nice with threats too close down forums that were getting out of control, ect. This is not good for their future games, as more and more people will now wait for reviews of their games b4 bying.. Blizzard are still high in my regards for good quality service so ill be more likely to buy a game right out without checking reviews from them then some other companies similar to ubi out there.

I haven't bought an Ubisoft title since they abandoned Vegas 2 after a few short months with no significant fixes and no support.

My biggest complaint is the match host ban ability. i've mentioned on here before but since the last time i spoke about it i have just encountered the same frustrating match host behaviors. banning people because they dont like their name, they are too good, arent good enough, accidentally shoot a teammate that runs in front of them while firing, trying to boost their xp in uprising or ctd, shoot their own teamates so that they can get the diamond turnin xp for themselves and then ban them when they complain etc ad nauseum. personally, even though the single player was fantastic and i do enjoy the actual gameplay during a good match on mp, the match host uber power and crappy attitudes makes this game nearly unplayable in mp. i wont buy the next farcry game until i see some improvement in this game or find out they have abandoned match host bannings.

honestly i hope it is like the first one but with a co op play. i say this because any rpg built like far cry 2 should be destroyed. spending one hour to do a mission gets realy realy realy boring. beside jumping around and fatal punching people is far more fun than sneeking around. when i got far cry 2 i was hoping on a continuation but no. thank god it has a good map editor and multiplayer or i would have sold it in a heart beat. i guess if you have a ton of time and like boring mission that take hours and you have to sneek around all the time i guess it is okay but in my opinion the only good thing about farcry 2 is the multiplayer and editor only thats the reason why so thew bought it it was because of the story mode. and anouther thing sci fy game will always do better because you can do stuff you can not do just take a look at halo 3 the sci fy is what sells it not the multiplayer there multiplayer is here is a gun rush the enemy and no stealth nothing just a kill feast hell i was a halo fan up until 2 when i got x box live and honestly i hated the online game play |

You complain about "gun-rushes", but don't wanna "sneek around" ? You need some tactics here - thats a good thing, isn't it? You want to jump around and "fatal-punch" people? - I recommend "Street Fighter IV" ! Don't you play for one hour straight, so you can do a mission ? Want to play a sci-fi game? - BUY ONE! Back to the topic: I will buy FC3 if SP is llike this one, already would be enough for me, but i hope they add more options and solve the technical-problems in MP! |

Yeah sure let's buy a game where 80% of the time you spend is traveling, everyone and their grandmother shoots you on sight, enemies soak up bullets like sponges no matter what, and is packed with fun game breaking glitches. Yessir I'll be sure to be first in line for a game just like this one. Maybe the sequel will be even more driving action packed then before! Seriously, I've seen better open world games done before. Sure you may have to travel from point A to point B quite often but at least everyone you encountered didn't shoot your face off. Mercenaries 2 is better than Far Cry 2, just without as pretty graphics and fire effects, and I could certainly live with that. |
