I recently visited the Far Cry 2 blog site at http://blog.ubi.com/farcry2/. I Noticed that on the right hand side of the header, on top of the passport mock-up, are 3 coins. Two of those coins are definitely the back of a South African five Rand coin. The third looks like a cents coin. What could this mean for Far Cry 2? Surely it must be a hint at what the game has in store for us.

Maybe it means the game will be set in africa! maybe you will have money in the game! no its just to make the page look cooler.

Maybe, maybe not. Why then South African currency? They could have used any other African country's coins to the same effect. But South Africa's money is the most stable currency in Africa. So it would be good for say, transactions. They do say that the game features realism. What's more realistic than buying your equipment, with proper money? If there is to be any money in the game, I bet it will be South African.

lol, judging by how much the Rand's dropped since early last year I'd dispute the statement that it's the most stable currency on the continent. I mean, yeah sure it's up there; certainly better than your average Zimbabwe Dollar.
Anyway, I wouldn't read too much into the currency photos on their blog. To be facetious, I'd judge that by the stack in my wallet, there's not too much you can do with R5 and 5 cent coins anyway |
