I must have gotten lucky. I have beaten Far Cry 2 this morning. But beaten is such a small word. I barely did the side missions or went on a crazy rampage trying to find all the diamonds. I figured once I have beaten the game they would take me to a safe house and I can just hang around doing all the side missions. But no once it ends that's it like Fallout 3. I wish that game companys that are making an open world game would let us keep our upgrades after we are done. Just smack us in the middle of nowhere and say "Here Have Fun do those missions you may have missed, find diamonds, or to find out more about The Jackel find the rest of the tapes" I know I am going off topic on this but I just WISH they would fix this bug on this game so other people that enjoyed it can enjoy it even more. Ubi if you plan on putting a patch on the game that is NOT the main one please find a way that we can continue playing the game after we are done with it with ALL upgrades we have made so far. If you do that and fix this annoying bug I PROMISE (and i dont do promises) I will buy the game again.

So now I am truly stuck in this game.
After I got a corrupted "savegame", where I collected almost all diamonds/scouted Guard posts and so on... I had to start over from the end of "Act 1", as I decribed on the former post. So I go on making 2 saves at each time I save the game and I experience occasionally "savegame" corruption at certian points, usally involving me dying in the game and I try to reload the last "savegame", that is then corrupted. It seems that if I die in the game, while on a mission and then try to load, all the "savegames" I made after I started the current mission, is now corrupted. So I am forced to load the "savegame" that was made just before I started the mission. I succeded with this method to progress to exactly 67% completed. But now the issue has grown much worse. The case now is, that every "savegame" I make from this point on, automatically gets corrupted and therfore unable to load. This means that until this issue is dealt with, I am left with a game which I cannot complete I could risk it and try to complete it but if I fail just once, it means I have to start from 67% yet again. I think I have been very patient about this, but if I am forced to wait much longer, I will then return to my retailer and demand a refund for a game which is broken and unable to complete. It would sadden me, if it came to that, cause I really like/liked "Far Cry 2", but I see no reason to keep a game, which finds itself in that state. |

I can't even find the right words to describe my disappointment over this one save game issue. Without going into a rant about the devs all I can say is that it is really sad that they released this game with this bug and still obviously can not figure out how to fix it. I think the reason they are taking so long is because they know that if they dont resurrect our corrupted save games with the patch that we will all disapprove and they are probably having trouble doing that. Why? Only the devs know and they aren't talking.

hi.i searched in foruns and i found that many users had this save game bug and many others like the game close to desktop. i got this problem too. today i updated my windows vista 64 with the sp1 update.then i launched the game and an update was downloaded. for my surprise the game didn.t freeze anymore and dont close to desktop so i guess that the problem is fixed by ubisoft.but this update needs some repairs because the sometimes the sound comes later than the click of the shot and sometimes it freezes like a second and then continues, but the worst is solved.

oh and btw i think Stealthmaster86 is right if you can let us keep doing the rest of the missions after terminate the main objective. that would be cool. thnks

Re: eliteunit0
Nope. The update to fix the single player glitch has not been released yet. On the first page of this thread you'll find that the problem was finally replicated on a development machine. ...and that a solution is being investigated. Once the fix is ready, it will be released on all platforms at once (and not for the PC first). Whatever managed to get you through your corrupt save file won't spare you from future save file corruptions. Be warned: Even with several save files, you more than likely will encounter this glitch again - and more importantly, there's a good chance that it will corrupt MULTIPLE saves and not just your latest one. |

I hope they fix this soon or I will sell this game to someone else and make that person miserable.

huum... but it solved my two errors(save game and game goes to desktop without a warning). its strange. bugs just dont come and go and come again i guess... but thanks for the warning

What a joke! How long have they been aware of this problem. Still no patch. I am really losing interest in this game. Refund? we should be so lucky. Bunch of w**kers!

I seem to have been able to fix my issue. I stood in front of the NPC that I couldn't talk to and I quick saved. I then quick loaded. When I got back, he talked to me. However, there was no voices or subtitles. He waved his arms as if he were talking, but his lips didn't move. So I exited and (since I have the Steam version) verified my cache files. It downloaded something for about 2 minutes (at 2.2mb/s, to give you an idea of how large the download was), and when I went back in-game my save was fine, and the voices played fine.
Just a couple possible solutions, especially for Steam users. |

Hi everyone,
We are still working on getting the title update out to you, but wanted to give you a quick update on the corrupt saved game issue. We have been working on it since it was first reported, and are happy to report that the issue has been identified. We are working on incorporating a fix into the upcoming title update, however please be advised that the fix *may* only be for new saves created after installing the TU. We understand that it is frustrating to lose all those hours put into a saved game (believe us, we ourselves have had to physically play to the point of corruption over and over during troubleshooting), and thank you for your patience as we worked to identify the cause. More information on the fix will be available when the TU is ready for release. |

Thanks for the update. I'll be sure to replay Far Cry 2 after this patch is released. (was lucky to have only been hit by this once, but I don't want to chance it happening again)

So everyone that has a saved game file of say.. up to 88% or 92% and has poured in an excess of 30 hours into the game, are **** out of luck?
Wow.. |

Ubisoft...omg
I will sell this game as soon as possible when that update is online. Sadly, ubisoft already got my money. i'm speechless... Language please This message has been edited. Last edited by: Black_Widow9, |

Kimi did stress the "may". So you *may* not have to replay all those hours. But it doesn't sound good. How about some additions to the Title Update, Kimi? What's being added/changed to Single Player? |

While it's nice to finally have some word on progress, the lack of communication has reflected badly upon UbiSoft.
I know I'm not the only one here who will never purchase an UbiSoft product on day one. I'm not swearing off UbiSoft, I'm simply saying that because of this save glitch and because of the lack of communication - trust has been eroded away. Should this happen with another product, please remember to communicate with your clients. It's the professional thing to do. |

Just finished Hell's Highway and was plunging ahead with Farcry2. When my saves all seemed corrupted. At first I thought I was having a stroke or some "fumble-itis"! I know that new games may have a bug or two BUT WTF! If you can't save and continue later, it's just not a game worthy of UBI Soft! It's such bad business for them, I'm astounded. If they can't fix it I'm simply finished with them. And some form of compensation on future purchases of their software is in order, such as a 30% coupon!
I'm using a Xbox 360, and I have no idea how they could fix the game without sending a new copy via USPS. But a big expense!! A Boycott on all UBI Soft games may be in order! If no solution is rendered by UBI SOFT or UBER-Soft, then send your copy back to Ubi-Soft demanding your money back...OR no more purchases of their software! WTF |

Kimi,
Thanks for this news. Pardon my ignorance but can you (or can anyone else) clarify what is meant by 'title update'? Is that the same as 'patch'? |

Yep, title update = Xbox 360 patch |
