So.. the PC Version of Far Cry 2, is on beta stage since January 2008, is the release date of March still on the track?

Hope ubisoft dont screw PC Gamers on this one, and delay the pc version without a major reason, but only to make a simultaneously relase on consoles and PC, just to make console gamers happy.

Hope this really.. i mean really doesnt happen Ubisoft, would be great if someone awnser this..

Considering that they still have not released official system requirements for the game, I would not hold my breath for a March release date, since it is already the middle of February ... but one can still hope.

My question is different from the other threads in this forum...

The main question is if they are going to screw us, with a simultaneously relase on consoles and PC...

I can't imagine the game coming in March now. Would mean it has to go gold in about 2 weeks. Maybe its been a really ultra secret dev and they move fast but...in general how many games are like that?

Yes the game could come in March, its in beta stage since January! Beta stage means that they are only fixing the last bugs nothing more, polishing the game...

I hope it comes out in March. And it better not be like Haze. What happened there? Not trying to change the subjetc to Haze but it better not be delayed like 3 times like other games.

Deus ex after being finished it had a 6 months period of polish . They say that it was the secret of the game, game that is reference for several developers of Far Cry 2 . And Far Cry 2 is more complex than Deus ex , and multiplataform

Another thing is, I think they have a fair way to go on the multiplayer side of things. They pretty much haven't been able to say anything on it, most likely because they haven't got anything nailed down yet.

Multiplayer adds another level of complication that needs a lot of time and attention spent on it to be good and bug/hack free (see Crysis).

I still hope September isn't true though.

My theory is that the game really was "done" and ready for release in March for PC, but after the game was announced on consoles, it became a much bigger, higher profile title; quality became more paramount. Thus, Ubisoft decided to push the release back to add extra features and more polish to the presentation side of things, as well as build on the marketing campaign.

I think this delay will do the game a world of good.

We heard UBI's somewhat vague reason for the delay (yearly fiscal earnings etc.) but it would'nt surprise me being the pessimist I am that they will release it with the console version inorder to make a big splash and more free advertising.

When Crysis was released there wasn't a ton of media ads and hardly any TV commercials if any. Even G4 shows like Xplay, ATOTS, Cheats ect. only had blurbs...and most of them were negitive. Yeah G4 heavily leans to console players but does provide for a lot of free media attention. Hell, before Halo was released, you couldn't help see or hear about on all the media venues. I'm probably way off base here but very little surprises me.

Cmon someone from ubi, or far cry 2 team, answer this please...

i want far cry 2 fast... but not if it has bugs in it so i guess i don't care how long it takes to finish it aslong as there are not too many bugs in it
