I was thinking about a few topics that were being discussed a while back, about how Crytek were going to limit people swimming to china and so on.

According to one of the interviews they had just finished programing thier Great White to swim.

Any one else heard about it?

I didn't see any replies for it, are you guys happy with that idea or not?

I think it is a sweeeeeet idea, it might stop people from being fish like on BHD.

But what what got me thinking was what is stopping it from swimming up rivers?

I read about this in a PC Gamer scoop, now i know we shouldn't believe everythin we read but PCG doesn't go by rumour and speculation and if they do they state it, however this scoop was with a crytek interview so i'm pretty sure that the great white is indeed featured.

BAck to the topic at hand? any ideas HOW many sharks will be swimmin around? and if they are able to die i wonder how long it would take to kill em, cuz if you kill all of them there is nothing holding you back from swimming to china :P

If there are sharks in this game it will make it so much more realistic just try to imagine a tropical island without any sharks, yeah it would be good in real life, but not in a game it just would'nt be an island without sharks,
and imagine a great white shark in the ship you start off in if you were going into the sunken parts of the ship it would rockhaving this shark stalking you under water in a dark rusty water filled corridor, then !!!BAM!!! you turn around to see these jaws in your face and you die, imagine how much you would S*** yourself, just picture it hey.

Anyway this is also great news seeming one of the mods i was going to make has a great white in it now that saves me from having to model one more thing, heck yeah. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

its part of the game that shark BUT if a other mod makes a model you can not use it unless you ahve asked premision to use it and if they say NO than you cant use it cause there are laws for that cause than it would be stealing the same thing is whit idea's you can't use a other mods idea's and put them same way in as they did cause that is also stealing.

you can be inspired by this to make new thing's but not to make the same thing.

To be honest,

I have only just skimmed through the last portion of this
topic post so someone may have already pointed this out. A shark is a fantastic way to stop players (Jack) making bids for freedom! By this I mean that it may not be possible to reach the invisible walls in the ocean that define the outer boundaries of the map, instead a shark attack will suffice! Jack will never make it! be it boat or swimming.
I hate invisible walls or termination of character at map edge, they spoil the fantasy engrossment you have been building up during the game play.

Actually now I have written this, the idea is foiled! Flying craft will still make it to the invisible walls.
Sharks can't jump that high, but maybe.......... if they introduced Godzilla, or dragons, meteorite storms, lighting strikes................................;-)

ever thaught about engine not working any more and sharks can still atack boats.

A shark is a very cool idea, but i feel sorry for the console gamers.. they can never really get the detail and muliplayer feel as pc gamers do.

As well i would love to see a modding community with FC as they have with hl/hl2.

Here is an official question for any dev browsing this board, Will there be a demo in this month or the next?

I don't think it's a good idea to have choppers automatically coming for you if you drive a boat.

And about those sharks, they promised us we would be able to swim to islands far away and so, and with sharks that gets kind of hard. I mean, for realism they should be swimming around freely, and so should the helicopters be.

But anyway, why would you want to visit the end of the world?

i thinkthe choppers only come if you go WAY out, and im sure they will be flying around freely as well.

and you proabably can swim to the islands, and the sharks prob will be swimming freely, so you probably just have to be careful, and have your machete at the ready

Actually most tropical sharks are generaly small and harmless. There are a few sharks like the tiger shark that I might worry about, one thing I am pretty sure of is you wont find a great white in warm water.
