I have installed 1.41 on our server and after 2 hours I started dreaming of the good ol' days...oh, that was just this morning! The ladder bug, rare yesterday is grabbing 25% of my players (2 per map avg) today. I have never seen so many mercy killings and suicides. The next patch that comes out I hope is more than just a "get in bed with PB" and actually fixes something.

and still nade bug and ladder bug are the result of lag
Client is unsyncronised to the server.
and in 95% because the user is not able to configure his/ her system properly.
adept your netspeed to your connection!
seriously I never ever had a ladder bug.

We are on a DS3 line. That's a 45MB line during game play the xfer rate is only in the 2-400 kbs range. AND not to sound rude on the "It's my fault" part but, why would we go from hardly ever seeing a stuck player this morning, to players being afraid to climb them tonight? The only difference between this morning and this evening is 1.4 and 1.41.
I'm sorry man but your statement doesn't cut the mustard.

I'm with you, playing on the same server that normally play on (well one of the two) I saw FAR FAR FAAAAR more ladder bugs than I've ever seen before. I'd have to guess that I was getting an average of one in three ladder climb attempts resulting in a ladder bug.
I haven't changed anything on my system EXCEPT installing 1.41 and PB..
I'll just mention that before 1.4 was released we were told that the ladder bug was FIXED. It's still there in the news archive..
In the past I'd normally get maybe one or two ladder bugs a night, and often could go many nights without having it happen to me at all. Tonight I got TWO IN A ROW.. that's never happened before either. At one point in the game my team (coop gameplay, don't know how many people but the limit was 8) had FIVE ladder bugs in one round.
Therefore it wasn't just me either.. the entire server seemed to be having the problems. Unless for some reason tonight the server was having connection problems.. but the game played pretty much like it normally did.

Hmmmm...That's strange since the patch our server has not had any problems. I myself have never had ladder bug so i'm not sure what to make of that frag bug yes but it's all cured now since the patch

I have had a ladder bug once in my 4 months of playing, and frag lock about 8 times thru the same period.
this for me is not a problem at all.

I haven't had the frag or ladder bug in months. It's due to packet loss I believe. Check your Internet Service Provider and make sure you're connection is working properly

I have to comment on this "it's due to packet loss" response..
Packet Loss CAN happen on the Internet. Someone creating an MP system to work over the Internet should understand that this could just possibly happen. If you create netcode that requires pristine internet conditions and creates bizzare bugs when something goes out of whack, that does not mean the Internet is to blame because it works fine over a LAN.
I have no way to check my packetloss, thanks to my ISP blocking ICMP pings altogether. All I can say is that the unblievably poor conditions I reported from a night ago were on the same server I've played on many nights before.. either the internet between me and that server was unusually bad for that one night (and it was equally bad for everyone else playing) and it was just coincidence that 1.41 had come out at the same time, or it was related to the upgrade to 1.41.
Time will tell, if I repeatedly get the same problem on the same server than I'm even more likely to conclude that it's due to 1.41. If things settle down than maybe last night really was a coincidence.
I wouldn't really be happy to let it go at that though. Packetloss should not cause bugs that are more dangerous than bullets. Degrading gameplay, teleporting AI, jumpy positional reporting.. that'd be understandable because of packetloss. Freezing onto ladders and forcing you to kill yourself or have someone else kill you as the only way out, severe bug.. even if it only effects some people. Maybe it's a bug caused by packetloss, but it's still a bug.
Is there any way to judge the packetloss conditions from the ingame "stat net" option? The netgraph option from Half Life seemed to give a decent indication of that sort of thing, although I never really learned to read it properly. The only thing I can judge by for now is how the game seems to be playing, such as the amount of trigger lag or teleporting tangos. Overall last night was good in terms of general lag.

He's right the ladder bug happens when you become unsyched with the server if your comp is playing an animation (like switching weapons) you comp finished and the server doesn't then you try to start another animation like climbing the server doesn't know what to do and freases you this has been tested by r00t 3:16 to an alarming accuracy
so to avoid it for the most part if you going to climb don't reload or switch weapons right b4 you do it that usually clears it up .

I haven't gotten ladder/nade lock in a while, but I seem to keep having those frigging ret locks. That's where the ret locks in its "blown up" position and doesn't receed to the center. On rare instances, at least I can actually shoot and defend myself. However, most of the time I can only run around helplessly until someone puts me down.
I think this is caused by the netcode myself...
