hey everyone, signed up on this community afew days ago, after finding out about settlers '5', very excited, played settlers way back on my amiga then again on my pc (settlers 2 vendi vici whatever) despite my lack of ability to recall the name of it, im a settlers addict and its probably THE biggest game recollection of my childhood. i still play it using a winuae amiga emulator. and a drawer full of pc format demo disks and games, hehe. anyways i found my settlers 2 cd the other day and decided id give it a go, personaly outta the 4 i prefer 1 and 2 style, 3 and 4 i found too cartoony, i love the look of 5 tho. ne ways back to the point, ive installed it and i get a dos message box saying i dont have a com port mouse used. fair enough i say ignore but my mouse just doesnt wanna work at all.

specs are

windows xp home sp2
logitech dinovo usb bluetooth wireless desktop mouse+keyboard.

everything else hardware wise wouldnt cause any issues. ive tried a program called dosbox but it sometimes makes the screen go corupted and the sound kinda outta sync or jumpy. anyone has ne ideas, that wud be great. otherwise i wont be too gutted, supose i cud find a ps2 mouse or something if i get desp http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

cheers. btw got settlers 5 on preorder. rock on http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

For other people, the fix for the com2 mouse thing:

If you do not have a COM-2 port enabled on your system you will get an error. The easiest solution is to change your COM-1 port (if you have on) to be COM-2. Settlers 2 seems happy without a COM-1 port if you have a USB or PS2 mouse.
To change your COM port open device manager, and expand "Ports".
Open the properties for COM-1, select the "port settings" tab and click on the "advanced" button.
Change the port to COM2 in the pull-down box, click ok, and click OK again to close the properties.
Close device manager and try re-running Settlers 2.
