Hello, I run il2 at a pretty decent framerate, but I still take hits(alot) and I wouldnt mind improving overall performance. My system specs are

Epox 8rda+
amd 2800+ overclocked to 2178 mhz(3000+)
I am using the onboard nforce2 audio
standard ide hard drives

That is my ram, i figure this is my framerate hit issue

Okie, it has been about a year since I built my computer. I have a little bit of money, but I dont want to spend any if it isnt going to make a BIG difference. I run at 1024*768 at get about 50fps, but it dips to around 13 sometimes. I play with everything on highest setting(scenery is not on perfect, rather excellent) except for view distance which is medium. In my ati control panal I have 8x antso on. So my questions, I figure there isnt much I can do to improve my video card it is an ati built 9700pro, I got it when it first came out. It is running at stock speeds. So Should I buy another stick of the gael ram and run dual channel? Or should I buy a dedicated dual channel pack? Should I buy a dedicated sound card? I read many reviews and supposedly the onboard audio is only surpassed by the audigy2 and this is till on preference. Would this be an accurate statement? I want better performance for all games, LOMAC as well, I just bought that game and dont know how to turn on fps, but it seems alot lower than il2.

Also, I just got back into FB after about a 6 month haiatus, and now mudmovers is down so I dont know how to tweak the game anymore(I did a fresh install).

So any suggestions on upgrades? Is it worth it? Is the 64-bit processor truly an upgradE? If I shouldnt just buy another stick of ram, what kind should I get that is a good value and comes double packed for dual ddr? Type "Dxdiag"
Run all tests, and on the last tab "save all info" as a text file, then copy, paste in here.

Ditch the DNA drivers, not a good set at all.

Either go for the original Cat 4.1/4.2 or 4.4 if you don't want perfect.

Your sound card should be on full hardware acceleration!

I would advise caution on adding a single stick of RAM, unless you know you can return it as there can be problems with non-matching sticks in dual channel mode.

Although it will probably work you need to know you can back out if it doesn't.

Always do a thorough memory test before booting the OS too, as this could save you a lot of time fault finding and rebuilding your system.

Memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com) does a pretty good job.

Since you have WinXP you should get another 512 stick of ram (hopefully matching). Also a sound card (Audigy/2) will help. Look in the above sticky "User Fixes That may help others," Hunter has some good settings for Radeon users.

Thanks for the replys... the dna drivers are no good? If I buy another geil stick I should be ok right? Also, would an audigy 2 help all that much?

One last question, I just built my gf a machine and put a 9800se(color pro, 256 bit version) I am using the dna drivers to softmod it to a 9800PRO. Are there any drivers out there that will work if the dna's are no good? Just wondering, because the dna drivers make her 9800se smoke my 9700pro(not by alot, but it is faster). Thanks for the help guys!!

Audigy 2 would give you an extra few FPS, probably not worth the $$ unless you are a perfectionist.

Hay Mech. I just got 2 512 sticks of geil putem in my NF7S in slots 2and3 had to clear bios but after that everythings sweet duel channel.........runs at 2.3.3.6.do it good luck..Laust

Thanks for the advice, I ordered the ram... I will let you know how it turns out. I am also Thinking about getting some better cooling, I upped my multiplier up to 11.5 today, and it ran stable, just to hot... Hit the warning level and warned me so I turned it back down to 11 and the 2200mhz. Thanks for the help guys!!
