Hey all

After the livestream 2nd December there was mention of drifting but no game play of any drifting and not much in detail. So i decided to scout the world map and find viable drifting locations and record them. These locations are on both dirt tracks and asphalt, some with traffic and some without and hopefully a varied level of difficulty. So far all the locations i have recorded are done using a controller using non standard settings to suit my play style. I will go back to them and drift them using steering wheel, pedals and shifter.

Currently i have 9 videos uploaded. Now for each location I find, I basically spend a good while there drifting, learning the corners and also get a decent run recorded so i can upload. When I upload them I am putting them all in to 1 playlist so they are all together. After the video(s) are uploaded i will also update this post and add them to the playlist. I also post on Twitter (https://twitter.com/caprojectsuk) when the videos are live.

All videos will be uploaded in 1080p 60fps and i recommend viewing at 720p60 or 1080p60 if you can

You can find the play list here >>> [Playlist Link] (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpVG_jdfFR_k-cH-df3SLJksxSbw46VPN)

Here is a break down of each location in their relative regions with links to the individual videos.

All regions i am always currently scouting for new locations. For now i just got to get the ones marrked "Identified" recorded and the ones marked "Coming Soon" processed

I do have more planned for this, such as mapping all the locations and adding additional information but these will come at a later date

If you know about or find anywhere that may be drifting worthy then please feel free to post and i will check it out and record it. if your unsure where the location is you should see it above your mini map, check any of the videos above and you will see what i mean, or you can post a screenshot if you play on PC

Hope you enjoy the videos

Thanks

Just an update on the Drift Series i have 2 videos that will be uploaded later on today. They are:-

East Coast - Coal State
East Coast - Pit Mines

Also to note that i will be re-recording and re-uploading the following

Maine Highlands
White Mountain Location 1
White Mountain Location 2
Pikes Peak

There is nothing wrong with the video's, just that i would like to include the map location in the video, my car is different now (Maxed out, different bonuses) and also i want to change the music on a couple of them too

RWD or GTFO

no but srsly i love drifting in forza. it's a bit harder in this game because you can't finetune your car settings, but i will get there eventually.

have you tried the 4wd dirt focus? its 4 wheel drift is completely mental! good to see the dirt 370 is 4wd as well. i've seen the muscle cars like camaro stay rwd in dirt so that can be a lot of fun too.

back to drifting: have you noticed street spec not having a limited slip diff? I have yet to try other cars for this but my street z4 wants to burn the inner back wheel but the perf spec is way more consistently tail happy, seems to burn both tires in a turn.

Drifters Unite!

and @ developers: in forza controlling counter steer with a controller is really doable. i don't think you have a higher difficulty in mind. could you like ever so slightly tone down the counter steer in a way that makes it a bit less snappy? It is noticeable on my logitech momo, but on my run'n'drive or x360 controller it's way over the top. the margin in angle seems really narrow, just s slight bit too much and you spin out, but if you start counter steering it almost immediately snaps back and sometimes gets highly unstable or even spins out the other way.

it could just be my skill though, show me a video drifting a rwd proper.
long entries and exits. consistent angle throughout. or isn't there anyone yet who has mastered the game physics? I'm working on it, that's for sure. I don't expect any decent results within a few weeks though, any game physics take some time to master.

edit: only felt the snappy countersteer with rwds like the camaro and z4. dirt/ice awd drifting is super easy but still fun.

Yep, i have the following cars bought and capped to level 50 on all parts:-

Nissan Skyline
Ford Focus
Nissan 370z
Hotrod Hup One
Ford Mustang GT 2011
Dodge Challenger STR-8 2012

Stat Bonuses are still to be confirmed tho. As for the Ford Focus, I have tried it but not on any locations i have found yet. was just getting initial tests done first. It seems it has more grip than the Skyline (370Z too) making ti slightly more difficult to control in drits but managable depenting on controller settings.

RWD seems to get a ton of oversteer early on in the drifts, seems to be hardest to control for me, may be due to my setup on parts and controlelr, still got some testing to do. will have a video with comparisons at some point. If you wanna know what is crazy, the Hotrod is really insane

anything that is not dirt basically power slides than drift from what i notice unless you take them to the snow then you can see some Circuit car drifting there :P

I actually counter steer and use the 360 controller. what is your settings. If you watch my videos carefully you can see my steering, a little hard to see since current ones are night time. Basically you give it a slight touch of counter steer but i find that the counter steer is non existent. if you get your line and speed and power through the corner you can basically drift the corner with no steering needed. steering is only requred for controll. do not counter steer, just control the angle

it could just be my skill though, show me a video drifting a rwd proper.

Will make one up for ya today if i get time, no promises tho :P

I cant say i have mastered the game physics/mechanics but i am getting quite proficient with the Dirt Spec

nice reply man. ill keep working it and maybe post a video when i have something i'm satisfied with. also first need to max a few cars, just got 50 not too long ago.

i would guess accel bonus on all should help consistently break traction, but i'm no where near that level of luxury. I'll get back to this topic when i've tried out more cars.

edit: just got the dodge viper from the 100 crew credits. it's got ample torque for spinny wheels. took it to a icy mountain pass, and i can now confidently say proper rwd drifting is most definitely possible in this game. it requires a fine throttle and steering control, as well as fully getting used to the physics as it is supposed to.

I currently use a logitech momo wheel and am in the process of tweaking the ff settings to my liking. will post my extraconfig in the appropriate topic when i'm fully satisfied with it and how it handles counter steer without compromising the dirt handling. feel i'm pretty close to my final setting (bumps stay, but heavy road feedback as well). got to applaud the devs for giving tuners some options to fiddle with. ^^

looking forward even more to being able to try perf spec cars with lowest level tires and 50 everything else. dis gona be gud :)

I'm glad this thread is back! =)

I'm currently trying to get used to drift \ powerslide physics in The Crew.
Vegas Airport is my spot for now. It has good surface (versus clumpy gravel in NY) and interesting layout with underpasses (Miami Airport is a little bit boring).

Today I got to 100 uplay points so i got the viper. first thing i did was try and improve my drift on a icy mountain road. the car felt pretty good and has plenty of torque. after a while a guy joined me in the pursuit of tire smoke and spinning wheels, so we did a few runs together. it was fun. here is a video of one of our runs. sorry for the quality, i still have to tweak some settings for recording.

Do not get Acceleration bonus for all parts, well that's what i found with the skyline. while i am comfortable with my current setup, there is still that little thing that is bugging me that i just do not know what it is.

nice to see the vid, tbh i make most my mistakes when i hit my manual record button. most my final recordings come from my shadow recording. also I sent a friend request btw and maybe we can get a drift session recorded, that is if you play on PC.

after my current batch of videos are uploaded i will work on some sort of guide Video with an overlay of brake accelerator handbrake and steering. this will delaay my main focus but think it will be usefull

NOTE: the 2 delayed videos are currently uploading. i will add links to them in my original post also will tweet with #neverdrivealone when they are processed

EDIT: 2 new videos uploaded

I accepted your friend request, drift sesh sounds good.
got a full plati perf 370 with no tires yesterday (about 130k on perf parts for a 20k car XD and not even close to full 50). seemed fun but havent tried it on proper roads yet. but if you want to try and tandem awd dirts that's fine too, then ill use my focus :)

Well i have been playing about and i come up with an overlay, i aint good with graphic stuff so its best i can come up with, i dont know anyone who could make one for me. what the overlay does is show inputs i do on the controller. What do ya think? i did forget to turn the minimap off hehe

Please note: it will not be on my main videos but will be on a guide-ish video. just wondering thought?

Meh guys... This is real drifting! :)) Hope you enjoy :)

The video is cool and i enjoyed it but your driving on icy roads, you can drift ALMOST anything on it. If that was on plain asphalt then OK that would have been a lot cooler but ice roads are the easiest place to drift for any one and i can prove that.

So I watched the video yesterday and decided to call my friend over this afternoon who wanted to try the game before he bought it. Now he has never played the game until i recorded him playing it today. I showed him the road to drift in my Skyline and asked him to do the same in other cars and this is what happened.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euhyHTKFPi8

My Drift series is not about focusing on the drifting. Its about the locations. I know i am not the best at drifting in the game and i can admit that but with time and practice i know i can become better. the fact that i am drifting in the videos is to show that its actually a decent place for a drift location. Once i have got all the locations recorded and uploaded i will do more in terms of drifting focused videos

cool stuff with the perf and circuit. but arent dirt roads in awd dirt cars even easier?
at least i think so. anyone would be able to take my awd focus sideways on a dirt road, so i'd recon the same goes for the skyline. controlling the rwds sideways takes a lot more subtle control, no matter what road you choose. especially if you're aiming for proper lines, enough angle to have to counter steer most of the time, turn in to apex to exit and ofc staying clean.

i mean yea, the dry roads have a lot more grip and feel a lot snappier, but it's generally the same thing, just with a narrower margin and higher speed.

edit: took out over the top metaphor

Oh yeah this is what i've been waitin' for so long... hanging around in Los Santos mountains area before december... :D
Great areas, great afford - thx for sharing your spots will definitely run some of them with my Nissans (feel free to add me on PS4 for cruising).

A reason more why i can't understand that people get bored after the story so soon...
...the crew playground is so massiv... get a bit creative pals

Perf spec Pagani Huayra.

Has a lot of power, and once you push the back out, with some counter steering, but mostly throttle control, it glides, only car I've really been able to keep a stable flowing drift with ease.

If you haven't tried it, I suggest giving it a go ;)
