hey when i get my new computer can i take the upgraded ram out of my old computer and put it into my new one is it the same kind?

well u said u were getting a dell, i believe dell's are not upgradeable, well, there is one computer in know is upgradeable but it is over 2000 dollars so im not sure if u can

As TRUbored said you will void your warranty. As for whether or not you can, that depends on your existing memory and the new memory in the new machine.

e.g. are they both pc 2700. Even if they are there no guarantee it will work. Proprietry (IBM, DELL, COMPAQ) Machines are very fussy. They are normally made to only accept custom proprietry memory. To make more money of course.

Proprietry machines are more for the office, and not really home machines, although you do get good machines, you upgrade path becomes more expensive.
