I assume you cannot assign a similiar plan to a helicopter like you would a tank. I want to make one patrol a path and attack as a tank would. Can get one to rise and fly away but not altitude or direction I wish. I think difference in choppers too. Did get one to react to friendly troop but path was obstructed. Would anyone care to give me a few ideals to try with the helicopters?

I believe it IS possible to give it a plan like any other vehicle, although you have to play around with the height.
You have a helicopter???? PLS PLS PLS...can I have it too???

Will whatever mods I have activated depend on what elements you can choose in Igor? I have several mods active and have several helicopters to choose under vehicle tab.

Ah! Which mod has the chopper?
I figured that out though this week...I had dropped in some vehicles and tested. Deactivated some mods and suddenly there were a lot less vehicles in the list. Turned out that I deactivated DS! LOL...
Could you link me to some mods where you get more vehicles?

I'm not home at the moment but I'm sure the HX-4 mod has choppers that attack but I will check. A particuliar mission "meat grinder" has at least 3 that attack. I'll check to make sure.

Yes HX4 has an apache with cannons and MG, and a huey. Those are tagged as tanks, that's how they appear on command-map, and that's why they can fire. Also a mobile SAM wich can fire rockets.

Downloaded HX4, but it does not work. Which other mods need to be active for this? With DS only it does ot work and with GR (original) ánd DS also does not work...does IT need to be activated as well??
Anyone knows?

You can't deactivate GR to have DS only. GR will always be activated.
This is from the _hx4_readme.html
REQUIRED MODS:
You must have both Desert Siege MP1 and Island Thunder MP2 installed and activated to use this mod.
The Black Hawk model comes with IT.

Thanks San....I'll go and try it tonight...btw...what about approval? Do you need to ask permission if you use it and what if we want to use the helicopter in our map/mission?

yes pme aproval is needed to use the work of others. most mod makers dont object to you useing them (unless hantrox is different) most modder will ask that you do certain things though like baja bravo wants me to give him credit in the read me file for useing the u.s. and the u.k. skin packs and some other things but they arent hard in any case. as far as using the hellicopters (I assume you are talkin about our mission pack) Id love to and will try later.

I kind of figured we would need it. This is only when we use it for the missionpack right?! There is no problem in using it for personal gaming?
We would need to get that then....
Mentioning them in the README.TXT is no problem....we can even make a CREDITS list at the end, where we mention them...

ya but you will still have to get ahold of them and i have downlaoded some modded hellis from atwar that were supposed to go on ofp do you know how and if they can go into gr? cuz that wouldnt be hard im sure

Glad you found the choppers. I still have not been able to get them to follow a path. I place it and assign a plan with path and speed just like for a tank. It will only hover. Reacts just like a tank in that it will shoot when you get to close.
I', still working on that old man. He not shooting me now, just ignoring me. (That happens to me a lot) I can bump into him and he just looks at me and says a few bad words.

its in the scripting you have to set it like:
proximity trigger: player platoon gets within (you choose the number) meters of Actor 35
reaction: actor 35 exhibits hostage behavior

Did you set the height for the helicopter? Maybe that has something to do with it? I suggest you do not set it to high straight away...
Set it on 5 meters or so...it should be high enough to see if it worked! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You may copy/edit RSE files in your mod, only not sell them, you can credit them, but is not needed.
About other modders, they (most of them) do want permission first. They like to know what it's for, so it's used as what they intended to use it for.(correct english?)
But there's no need to copy the chr/pob files just make atr/vcl files and link to them. This way the mod only needs to be activated, but not included, and no permission is needed as you don't include anything in your mod, credits are not needed too, but you can do it (I would).

Still I would go for copying all into the mission. The mod would only run with the other active and if I would download a mod, I don't really want to go and download one or several others before it works...
As in giving credit to the maker of, let's say the helicopter, no problem! His or her name in big letters wherever he/she wants.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
With all this mod making (in IGOR and 3ds, I do not plan to steel from others...Let's face it, we cannot always do everything ourselves and why would we invent the wheel all over again? I started on an Apache too, but I guess there is already one out there, which is much better looking then mine will be in months! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif If he/she does not mind it to be used in other maps/mission, why wouldn't we? Eventually the modding community profits from it, as there is yet another map/mission they can download!? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
Not sure how you take care of this though.. Maybe locate email addresses somewhere of modders?

Eitherway...would you be able to get the hellis from OFP into GR?! Don't know actually...If you would be able to get them into 3dsmax, you might be able to save it again in a GR extension!?

Found this....this might be something that causes your heli not to move?!?!
"The helicopters you are speaking of...are these the DRAG helos? If so, then here is likely what the problem is. The coordinates are screwed up on the z axis on most of the Desert Siege maps. Everything is negative on most of the maps. Some areas peak into the positive, but not very many. If I place the start point of the heli on a spot with a positive z-axis and make a path with all the points on the positive z-axis, it has no problems moving at all. So pay attention to that coordinate box on the lower right side of Igor when placing the heli. Also be sure to check the path points with vehicle before placing them."
