When playing the demos, either of them, everything is fine for the first few minutes. Then gradually the sound deteriorates.

Firstly it goes a little choppy, then it starts to skip and get more severe, eventually I begin to hear a series of continuous and high pitched beeps and pops over the sound of the game.

The first few times after installing either demo, there's no problem. It appears gradually and gets worse. Then sometimes it mysteriously goes awa and comes back later.

Aside from this I've no problems. The graphics are all on very high, it runs smoothly and looks beautiful.

I've got a Soundblaster Audigy Player, with the latest drivers. I never have sound issues with any other games or programs. Can anyone help?

Win XP + SP1
Athlon XP 2800+ (Barton)
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
512MB DDR PC3200

The only thing I do know is it's not an Audigy driver issue.

Is the Audigy Player an Audigy 1 or 2 chipset, and do you ever have any problems with any other games at all? Does it pass the DirectX sound test? Is your internal wiring going near any fan wires or the PSU wires? I've got an Audigy 2 Platinum in my rig with the newest Creative drivers, and I have zero problems.

Have you checked for newer drivers on Creatives web site? I know they have some fairly new drivers for the Audigy series. Just a thought...

Thank God there's somebody else! Yeah, only Far Cry. My sound's crystal clear and perfect on every other game, every other program.

Also, I tried another soundcard and it works. So it's definitely an issue between the Audigy and the game, even if it doesn't happen for everone.

I have an Audigy 2 card and have no problems with any other games. In FarCry I have to turn my speaker volume the whole way up in order to hear sounds, but I get no sound from my weapon. Just downloaded the latest EAX driver from Creative this afternoon, made no difference. Hope they get it fixed for retail
