Hey Guys,
I was just playing some coop and i thought what a pain in the *** it is to breach the door yourself and frag and flash on go codes.Here are some things I think they should put in AS.
- the CPU will do what they are told to on go codes like in Rogue Spear
- you are able to give orders when your entering a room with no door. ex. you can only tell your team to open flash and clear when they are going in to a room with a door. you should be able to do this to any room.
- the shouldnt hold position when they have entered and cleared a room.

Except, well, you can. Just look at the floor. As to planning, about all it doesn't do is teach AI characters to act like intelligent, motivated and well trained special forces troops. Instead, it teaches them to be sheep, with the handy ability to shoot without the bother of aiming, which distinguishes them from the AI oponents who can think (to an extent, but quite well as far as AI goes) and can ALMOST shoot without aiming.
Love it when a guys 100 meters away, but spots you instantly, then fires about a 10th of a second later, and hits you in the head with his rifle (usually equiped with an unlikely or impossible modification) fired from the hip. Of coures, the 3 sheep behind you conitnue on, into his line of fire, and get shot one at a time over the following 5 seconds as they take turns to stand on your corpse.
No, I think AI is probably what needs improving the most, and (as usual) a few new weapons, preferably not yet more incredibly obscure stuff that nobody has even heard of before, but things likely to be used by terrorists, (SKS, for example), and grenade launchers which everyone on this forum seems to be begging for, and the OICW which a CT team like RAINBOW in 2007 would have, even if only for special occasions. They'd have a test model or two, if nothing else, surely.
An OPTIONAL Iron sights system such as that seen in True Combat (Quake 3 mod) would be an interesting change, and take the series somewhere new. Lastly, hits should be handled differently - people's aims thrown in wild directions, possibly a more effective heavy armour, and large calibre rifles CONSISTANTLY getting 1 shot kills.
This would make people ask what's the point of a .50 BMG then, but, well, what indeed? There is a reason not many soldiers would opt for it as a standard rifle cartridge. Read the point of Sephiroph's signature line - it's not really about HOW dead a target is, what's important is that it IS dead. 7.62mm NATO is more than enough against humans.
Last of all, the tangos. They need changing. I think a good idea would be a difficulty system with "realistic" opponents as optional, with a seperate scale. In that the opponents would be hopeless, but you get one shot at each mission. Any losses, bugger, they're gone. No restart. Maybe the campaign can have missions retried from each 3rd level or something on lower settings, and never on the highest. Just remember, the opponents would be realistic. Improving the AI any more would be hard, yet worth a go at least, but mainly they'd be slow to react, very bad shots, and almost all the way through they'd use AKs, Uzis, dragnouvs, and various pistols, that sort of thing, with almost no attachments. Later, they might get G36s and M16 variants, and perhaps the odd obscure thing. Even then, attachments on tangos would be really rare.
Of course, the normal difficulties with the same, freaky opponents we all love to kill would be there, complete with the usual ridiculus aim, reflexes, and weird & wonderful equipment, but the realistic mode would also be an option.
How does that sound? A bit much for an expansion? Fair enough, I've suggested some things that would take real time to get right, but at least for the sequel. I bet they won't try anything really new, out of fear of people reacting badly to real changes, but most of the changes I offer here are optional - they don't like it, they can turn them off, and you've still got another campaign and a few new toys to play with. If nothing else, at least make the game a bit easier to mod, so people can fiddle away and make the changes THEY want.

Mix RvS, America's Army, and SWAT 3.
Bestestest tactical FPS EVER.
I loved how SWAT 3 AI would actually clear rooms. Explore it, open doors to closets and bathrooms before ever declaring an area clear.
That game's AI wasn't perfect either, but it was miles ahead of RvS's.

whats so good about americas army...... anyway i agree with Shirroco the ai needs improving, dont u just love it when your trying to get past your men cos youve come to a dead end and bam, u cant get past cos there to stupid to move, or the way a pistol would kill u in 2 shots to the leg, i would like an option of taping your missions to your hard drive and watching thm on media player, winamp etc etc, this would add a competitive option with clans and a competiotion done by ubi to win clan of the month etc etc, i would like to see a well executed plan aswell, when i mean well executed i mean silent and deadly, clans working as a team and getting the job done, if this happened then i would put the clan of the month in my opinion on the site and the clan that get it will have a badge on there site to show how many times theyve won it, raven shield is a community and needs to be treated as one rather than ubis approach to "theyve bought the game, lets leave em 2 it"
