laging and delaying

in everything i do there is always a delay of araound 1 second, if i press jump or move in a direction or try firing my weapon, and i get figure out why, its getting really annoying because i want to play this game, changing resolution does nothing, lowering all the graphics and textures does nothing. is anyone else experienceing this, or does anyone know how to fix it. any help would be much appreciated

Video: Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
Proccesor: 7330 mhz Pentium 3

and i have a substancial amount of space left on my hard drive (over 3 Gb).

in the video settings on the demo, go to advanced and click the auto detect. then click apply. i had to change the options to low in order for mine.
