Hi,

Just thought I could try asking here cause no-one else can help...

Using the Speedtouch 530 DSL modem with built in router & can't work out how to configure ports to allow hosting in MP.
I know what ports to use & where to send them, but how to do it in the modem admin is not so easy for noob like me. Online support & user manual useless as not specific enough.

BTW this is the unit supplied with Telstra Bigpond ADSL in Aussie land so any Aussies out there with simmilar setup it would be great to hear from you (Snipe21?)

Thanks

Mort

To mortley,

I know how you feel with the help from Telstra Bigpond----> (Hellstra) so try the link below from Greyhaired.

To mortley,

Go to the modems web site and find the forums for that modem if there are forums there and type in "Ghost Recon Hosting" You may just find someone that has posted a walkthrough for that modem and game to host. Just a thought! Do you use "Hellstra" as your ISP or do you use a ISP that connects to the bigpond and if that's the case you may want to ring them and one of the tech's may walk you through the port settings.

Snipe,

Finally Fixed it!! After ringing 'Hellstra' as you suggested, well they where useless as usual - said that networking unsupported & cant help me (whats the point of supplying a modem that people cant use all the functions)

But found a message board in Bigpond's Gaming Site & a few threads had some helpful info - so trial & error finally got it to work last night.

Thanks for your suggestions - steared me in the right direction.

I would like to post my remedy somewhere so any other simmilarly frustrated ppl might find it helpful - so any suggestions...

Thanks again

Mortley

To mortley,

Post what you did here as I will copy and paste it in my files for anyone else that may need help with that brand of modem.

Snipe,

Here are the instructions for the Speedtouch 530, but apparently the same for the 510 as well.

To forward a port:
- access the modem Web page in your browser (10.0.0.138)
- select Advanced
- select NAT
- select New
- In the protocol field, select tcp or udp
- In Inside IP, enter the address of the PC on which the game is hosting(eg.10.0.0.1)
- In Inside Port, enter the port number
- In Outside IP, enter 0.0.0.0
- In Outside Port, enter the same port number entered in Inside Port
- Select Apply
- Select Save All

Note - as Ghost Recon requires TCP & UDP ports 2346, 2347 & 2348 to be forwarded to the host, you will need to repeat the process 6 times - ie. new entries for each port & both TCP & UDP

Regards,

Mortley
