If I got a sound card instead of onboard sound how much of a difference would it make? How much of a load would come off my cpu, would that give me better fps? I plan on using studio Monitor headphones. Thanx

INdeed, im looking to upgrade my sound system... my old gamming rig had a SBLive card, 3 speakers and a subwoofer. But it lacked Graphics and power...
My new rig has graphics and power, but an Avance AC97 onboard chip and only 2 speakers...i get a noticably larger amount of chirps and crackling than i did with a added Soundcard.

Audigy is the best, but not completely trouble free...
I personally liked the SBlive series, but they are no more.
Audigy seems to have sloppier drivers.
