List the flight sims you played in the past...

Very first one...Falcon 2.0 (at least that what my tired old brain can recall) on my MacSE.

Chuck Yeagers...Gawd I must be getting old can't remember the whole title.

Gunship

Falcon 3.0 (Replaced my Mac with a PC)
Chuck Yeagers Air Combat-now this was a classic. Loved the little dialog box with CY yelling at me!

Battle Hawks

Their Finest Hour

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (Too bad the latest release by Lucas Arts is a dud).

Tornado

Strike Commander

Gunship 2

F-15 Strike eagle

F-15 Strike Eagle 2

European Air War

World War 2 Fighters-I liked this game eventhough die hards slammed it.

Gunship 2000

Falcon 4.0

B-17 the Mighty Eight

F-18

Apache -Havoc

Commanche

IL-2
IL2 Forgotten Battles

Enemy Engaged

I'm sure there are more I haven't recalled. It truly is amazing how things have advanced.

http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/x,19/o,18/

I played other games for a while, no so many flight sims, but with the release of Il-2 Forgotten Battles, I've gotten back into flight sims in a big way. I'm waiting for the first patch to come out before I get LOMAC I think, and I also want to get a TrackIR, but then I'll be set! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BTW Its Chuck Yeager's Air Combat. I seriously don't know if I can remember then all by now so I won't even try but the first one I had for the PC/Mac was Hellcat's over the pacific ran on a 33Mhz processor. Followed shortyly by its sequel, CYAC, Red Baron 3d, and then Flying Nightmares. Then Civilization popped its head up and its a blur from there.

My first flight sim was a game called Jet Pilot By Vulcan Software for the Amiga. That game was awesome for its time, Pity the devs never upgraded it to PC. I even emailed them but that was their only attempt at a flight sim.

My first was "Jet" by subLogic. Everything was wire frame but included the F-16 and the F-18 and carrier.

Though I've played most combat flight simulations, the ones that I recall really flooring me include Battlehawks, LucasArt's Battle Of Britain and the king-of-all-time with me, Falcon 3. I don't think I'll ever connect with anything again like I did Falcon 3. Falcon 4 was the last simulation I ever spent any real time with.

But here are some more (which havent been mentioned by now), some of some were really cool and ahead of their time (esp. the combination of strategy and sim):

Air Power (Rowan, fantasy-aircrafts and zeppelins)
ATAC (MicroProse, jet & heli, strategy)
Comanche (yeah, its arcade, but the first was a milestone)
Fleet Defender (MicroProse)
Harrier Jump Jet (MicroProse ?, nice landscape)
Hexagon-Kartell (IIRC german company (Ascaron?), heli, good FM)
Super VGA Harrier (sim + strategy)

... to be continued

Ones that come to mind are:

Sinclair Spectrum Flightsim (circa 1980 : )

B17-The Mighty Eighth

Flight Unlimited-3.

Well, the last one I havent flown YET. But Ive been after this sim for years - its real hard to get hold of now in the UK. I finally found a second-user copy for 10 on Amazon the other day. It arrived latet - wrapped in newspaper! ..but was in perfect cond with box and manual. I havent loaded it on my PC yet cos I'm bowled over by Lock-On for now. But I hope to have a Trip Down Memory Lane in FU-3 soon (if it will run on ok my Windows-XP system : )

Hi all

My very first flight sim I played was on a TRS80 Model 1
It was called FS1 on a 5 1/4 diskette.

The world was a black and white square grid with one of the four sides a mountain range that was nothing more than a back drop with no depth. The gauges where simply pasted at bottom of the screen. My first dogfight was on this sim. I had to defeat a white dot that was determined to shoot my sopwith camel down.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I really was awe struck by this simulation on a computer. If it wasnt for flight simulators being released over the years I would have never learned about the inner workings of computers. because the other software seemed boring except for spread sheets of course.

the old flight sim for APPLE that had wire frame graphics, I forgot the name. Maybe the 1st microsoft flight sim. It had little I's that represented the enemy AC when you played biplane mode.

The second was F-19 on a commodore 64. That sim was awesome, I loved playing on hard and sneaking by droves of enemy ac.

Then it was Gunship. Fun Game. The I believe it was Falcon at on the mac.

My alltime favorite sim TORNADO on my first PC. Man I miss that sim.

These I still have and Fly.

Xplane

TAW, and EAW.
