I'm sorry, but I just have to vent. Yes, I'm one of the many webmasters who's upset about the lack of proper support for PNG in Internet Explorer for Windows. I've had to code my whole web page around different browsers, so that it will work in Internet Explorer <u>AND</u> Netscape Navigator, and so forth. I know quite a few of you out there have web pages, so if you're upset about this, like me, sign this petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/msiepng/petition.html. So far 10912 people have signed it, though Microsoft knows this is an issue, so we need as many signatures as possible. I believe last time Bill Gates personally addressed this issue, but they still don't realize how bad it is for the internet as a whole.

Sure, it is possible to build your webpage around IE so that it works with most browsers, though it takes time, it is tedious, and is overall less compatible without a considerable amount of scripting. Anyone else agree IE needs to have Alpha Transparency support?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, visit http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/png.html, or just ask me here.

Thanks bergeyman for signing it. Yeah, about designing, I found this when trying to find a workaround for IE. Here's the minimum coding required for a fair amount of compatibility:

image.pngXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoade r(src='1c.png', sizingMethod='scale')" />
&lt;script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
< !--
var agt=navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase();
var is_ie = ((agt.indexOf("msie") != -1) && (agt.indexOf("opera") == -1));

if ( is_ie )
{
image.src="blank.gif";
}
//-->
</script>

Of course there are the other browsers that require other scripting, but this I've found to be the best compatibility for as little scripting as it requires (as compared to the other workarounds).

By the way, welcome back usa320.
