LAdies and gentilmen, I did this small tutorial for the new kids on the block just starting out skinning.
This deals with Paint Shop Pro 7 although I believe PSP 8 is a close match and there should be not that much differance.
I wish I had pictures to work from when I was starting out doing this.
I converted one to a Pdf format and left the other in Microsoft word format.
This is just quick and simple it does not get into the intricacies of difficult skinning projects this will get you started so to speak.
If any of you have questions ask one of the fine skinners here in the community or e-mail me with a specific desctiption of the problem and I can custom make a specific tutorial to fit your needs.
I have to disqualify myself as an expert in this field as I am still learning myself.
But there are a couple of quick tricks in here that I picked up on my own and thru dealing with the other skinner folks here in this community.
So with out further adew happy skinning .

Thre are a couiple of ways, what I do is use a vecter or floating layer.
if you use the other one it will come out very pixelated.
Also use a font that works.
sometimes I have to scroll thru half the list before I get a font that actually can be seen when it is sized down to a size 8.
Here is what I do.
I make a layer called name plate and save it and just leave it blank as this is what your going to use to apply all the names you will be doing.
I choose a font and size it down to , size 8 and type the name in and click ok.
this will place the name somewhere on this layer once the text box disappears you can then delete the name you just applied by hitting the ctrl + Z button.
Now your text button should still be activated so that when you place your mouse cursor on the desktop and click it the text box appears and so does the last name you typed into it.
Move your text box so you can see the name if it is not clear you can now scroll thru the text options and watch them change as you choose one.
continue this until you are happy with the way the name looks and ensure that it is readable.
once it is to your likeing click the ok button on your text box and now since the name is a floating or vector layer you will be able to move it whereever you want until you lock it into place.
Hope this helps.

Thanks
I'll give it a go in the AM when I get home form work and see how I do. If you go to my link below the first pic of my squad will show my name on side of aircraft. Thats the best I can do so far. I had to leave a space between each letter to get them to come out clear enough to read.
Thanks

Dude you need to save it as a floating or vector layer, just follow my instructions or send me a blank skin you want your name on and I will use it to do a tutorial with lots of pictures for you.

Wow! Thanks Snake! THIS is the tutorial I was looking for.
Simple enough to get started and have good results. Most importantly...plenty of step-by-step pictures.
This is great!
