Can anyone tell me which graphics cards are good enough to produce the kind of pictures shown in the development updates of PF and in general to run current games at full? When things get busy like a long queue of planes at takeoff all starting their engines or in a dogfight over Leningrad my framerate drops below my satisfaction threshold http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif. It probably also depends on the rest of the system, so here are some specs:
CPU: Pentium 4 1.70GHz
memory: 768 MB RDRAM PC800 (40ns)
system clock: 400 MHz data rate
AGP: 4x, bus speed: 66 MHz
Op. system: Windows XP home
current g.card: NVIDIA Geforce4 MX 440, 64MB (no good)
I was thinking of an ATI Radeon 9700, but will it run efficiently on 4x AGP?

Thx

Well, First of all, I think the pics in the PF updates look like gack! No AA used in them. There are a few good ones, but not many.

Your CPU is going to be your bottleneck when you upgrade your video card. as a matter of fact, My personal opinion is that you will be at minimum requirements for PF.

The 9700 is a little underpowered, but should give you some AA/Aniso if your cpu can give you reasonable fps.

If you are willing to go that far, you should get the 9800pro 128mb card. Best buy has them on sale this week for 179.99 after a 50 dollar rebate.

Good Luck!

Yep, what coasty said. I went from a 9600 pro to a 9800 pro. Like night and day, 9800 card can hold it's own really well.
