perhaps what they have got planned is no coastlines at all...that way they can reduce the need to model any area other than a small patrol zone ..which can be exactly the same for every single mission...they just tell yu it's somewhere else...and alter the grid lat long to compensate..but it would be exactly the same area as all the other missions...sigh.....would certainly be cheap to do i guess...yikes bit of nightmare that thought sorry... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

The idea that we might get a sqaure of ocean so many miles by so many miles is certainly a worrier but if they are going to do scripted mission the way they seem to the surely HAVE to make a Gibralter run?

No way they can avoid coastline there, I don't think.(Unless it's set in VERY heavy fog! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )

Yes, but it‚'s one thing to cover the coastline at a limited area such as Gibraltar and there is another thing to cover the entire Atlantic coastline. Free real world data is available but it is in a fairly low resolution. And yet the dataset is huge if you want some height info about the land as well.

So to do the coastline really well you would have to use the ‚"low‚"Ě resolution real world data and then use some fractal or perlin noise to further detail the landscape. Then it will look nice and detailed and be fairly true to the real world.
