Thanks in advance !

A good start would be to download Fraps video capture program from www.fraps.com (http://www.fraps.com) and Use the Windows Movie Maker v2 for editing (built in WindowsXP and v2 available from Windows Update)

In addition you'll need creativity http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

OK-
Many questions...

I assume that you would use these tools on a pre-recorded AVI file you created inside Lock-On- is this correct? Or do you somehow use these tools to create the AVI file itself from the trk file? Also, how does one create an Mpeg? Can you convert with the mentioned tools?

Thanks...

I use the avi tool in-game, and make my movies at 25% quality, uncompressed at 25fps. Yes, the files are huge............

Then I run them thru Dr.DivX after I edit them in Main Actor. I have one currently that is about 9 gigs in size, but when it's compressed to high quality it's about 23mb. Thats w/a 5 minute movie (so far).

I never had Fraps work well for me.

Fraps (any version) can be used to capture video either directly while playing the game or track or from LOMAC-made AVIs.

Capturing while you play the game will cause a serious slowdown, so I wouldn't recommend that (unless you record scenes with half speed or lower) So the best option would be to record while watching an edited track file (I don't know how well the ingame avi capturething works)

You can convert the avi clips you recorded (either with fraps or lomac ingame avi) with Windows Movie Maker to most used formats including DivX and WMV9 etc. (depends on ENCODING codecs you have installed, to play the files on another computer you need a DECODING codec)

If you're not satisfied with WMM converting there are lots of freeware video editing tools around which can convert different types into whatever you like avi->mpeg etc..

A good option is to use avi video with xvid/divx codecs

hmm say I had a TV with a built in DVD recorder... could I use my video out to record the game without using the CPU at all?... then I could just rip whatever video of of the recorded dvd and edit as I pleased.....

hmmm any thoughts? I guess there wouldn't be any sound.... that would pose a problem....

i havent used fraps but the in game works well...as long as you make sure your track is record on DAY 001.
Like rugg said, use the default render settings once you are ready to export and make sure you keep youre file sizes under 2 gigs or 30 secs uncompressed. You can use a codec to compress during the render, but I wouldn't recommend any of the in-game ones. Morgan can increase to 4 min recorded and Huffy can increase to 2 mins w/o losing quality.
Once you have secured the .AVI file you can use any editing software you like. Keep the files uncompressed (or only compressed during render)all the way through the editing process.
Once you have your movie complete do a final compression with something like DIVX5.1 (works good).
My guess is fraps is a faster product but I think you need a pretty good system to achieve any sort of quality, compared to the in-game renderer, but if you have a good comp the in-game will render at a ok http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif speed (i can get like a 6:1 speed (meaning it takes 6 secs to render 1 sec of footage).
The real challenge is getting things to film and render properly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Morgan will work from 2.5 to 4 minutes depending on how much is in the clip. It or Huffy works well. In this clip I used Morgan and recorded in game at 1280x1024. I dumped it down w/Dr.DivX for the final at 640x480.
