is halo: first strike halo 2? possibly.....*possible spoilers i guess* [Archive]

i haven't read the book yet but on the back of it (i have it though) it says:

Halo has been destroyed, and the threat it posed to sentient life, neutralized. But victory has come at a terrible cost for the UNSC. Thousands of valiant soldiers fell in the battle to prevent the alien construct from fallingunto enemy's clutches.

Now everything depends on the Spartan known as the Master Chief. Yet even with the aid of the artificial intelligence Cortana, the Master Chief will be hard pressed to rescue survivors and evade the covenant ships patrolling the remains of Halo in debris-strewn space.

Ahead lies a dangerous voyage home, through a gauntlet of covenant forces. For the sake of all, the Master Chief and his war torn squad must not only survive, but take the fight to the enemy with a decisive first strike.

Now that sounds to me like stuff we already know about halo 2 or stuff we saw in the trailer.... so i wonder if the story line in first strike is similar to halo 2

i think he meant in the transition of halo 1 and 2..... cuz halo 2 is obviously partly on earth... but i don't see how that would happen cuza he goes onto earth as soon as he leaves halo it seems

actually NightCrawler, Duffy is pretty much bang on

Halo: First Strike is SETTING UP what is to happen in Halo 2

it is set between the first and second games

BUT, considering that Cortana says that there are no survivors at the end of the first Halo, how could anything happen at the DEBRIS of Halo?

wel, bergey, read it, and i'm buyin it, so we'll hav a meeting later!

Um, i used to think about whether or not any Marines survived Halo besides the master chief, but I'd bet that the command crew survived. do you remember mention of the command shuttle on the level Halo? That is what probably survived. But beyond that, I doubt that anyone else survived, unless the covenant didn't shoot down all of the longsword fighters....

oh, and the command shuttle may have gone to investigate the debris of Halo after its destruction.

ohhh, O.K. I guess that is why Keyes has to get that one Marine to calm down when you hear about Foe Hammer not being able to pick you up (yelling we're screwed over and over isn't a very officerly thing to do). I haven't read any of the books, but was just going by what the game said. If what you say is true, though, that's pretty embarrassing for the covenant (setting a trap that works perfectly, except for the fact that the MC just kills the entire ambush force). either way, the command shuttle didn't get shot down in Halo: The Flood, did it? Because if it survived, then that is probably where the surivors would be. (Maybe that covenant dropship you captured survived too)

nope, every speculation is wrong about First Strike

i got it this morning and BOY is it GOOD!
SPOILERS are following guys, so dont read on!

there are survivors around the derbis of Halo, they are an ONI spook, an ODST Corporal, Linda (who is technically dead in it) and Sergeant Johnson along with a pilot

it also flashes back to Reach and Fred and the others down there trying to save the generators

as well as flashbacks to training

read it, cos its brilliant

you learn alot of cool new things!

no, him fighting the elite at the end of the game was just an Easter Egg and had no relevance to the plot

BUT

you do see the Sergeant getting overrun by Flood spores in Jenkins video diary

it turns out he has a rare desease from Boron radiation and the Flood couldnt adapt his body to their needs

so they let him go, and he hitched a ride off of Halo in a Pelican

you guys said the thing about searching halo's remains couldn't be in halo 2, hence first strike couldn't be halo 2.... but i got proof that halo 2 will have halo's remains

Bungie and Microsoft have released the second official promotional video on the making of their eagerly awaited sequel, Halo 2. While almost all the game footage is recycled from the E3 demonstration and earlier trailers, some new interviews with the game's developers offer interesting tidbits about the sci-fi shooter's story.

Towards the end of the video, writer/cinematics director Joseph Staten mentions that Halo 2 will be "a galactic romp from one place to the next," and infers it will contain numerous interplanetary locales. He also gave some details, mentioning that players would be transported "from the ruins of Halo to ancient forerunner facilities in the atmospheres of gas giants." Art director Marcus Lehto also obliquely mentions said facilities, saying he wanted to create existing "damage from 900,000 years ago."

The video also contains footage of Lehto next to a wire-frame schematic of a temple-like facility and a concept painting of a ruined landscape. There are glimpses of 3D artist Shi Kai Wang working on the mysterious new Covenant Prophet and his hovering throne. Gun nuts will be excited by weapons master Robert McLees' brief mention of the new submachine pistols, which he refers to as "bullet hoses."

well if the game starts off at the ruins of Halo, they're gonna have to cover a WHOLE HEAP of stuff, meaning that the Earth battle won't be till last!

SPOILERS AFTER THIS LINE!!!

after the Halo blows up, the Chief does the following:

narrowly avoids death from a Covenant fleet

captures a Covenant Flag Ship

goes to Reach

lands on Reach and helps find the other surviving Spartans

Fights his way of Reach

Flys to the Eridanus system

Gets into fight with Covenant there as well

Flys to Covenant meeting point

Destroys Covenant Contruction Platform

High Tails it back to Earth (and the start of Halo 2, presumably)

what i think Staten was getting at is that he is putting it in perspective for those who HAVENT or WONT read the book "First Strike"

meaning they may have to quickly explain what happened between Halo and HAlo 2

i must admit that playing out First Strike would be cool, but Bungie have strictly said this

"Halo First Strike is set between Halo and Halo 2."

well counterstrike is probably one your not going to see me get I might rent it for a week end but I'll stick with R63 and I can't wait until SplinterCell P.T. The Multiplayer on it will be really awsome to hear what they have said about it so far
