help with how to get to forest walkways please

I've started Riven - Suuch a hard game - have spent a full week trying to get up to the walkways above the lake, my game doesn't seem to have a tram to get there on. I've done the sub, been to workshop and map and everywhere. Help, help, help.

You need to close the floor of the Whark Gallows. Have you done that?

Thanks for your quick reply - might sleep tonight - no I haven't been to Whark Gallows - where are they?

Sorry, yes I have been to Whark Gallows, and also can't get the chair to go up. Will follow the hints for the trapeze - but does that get me to the forest walkways?

Have yo seen the staue in the forrest. stand on the path with the lights still infrount of you as you face the statue the one on the right has a switch on the top click on it. took me forever to do that one.
