I have a 53inch HDTV. I run all my Xbox games that support it in 480p or higher. The first Splinter Cell had screen tearing up the arse. I think it is more noticeable to people that have the big screen HDTV's. I remember playing the demo and the screen tearing in that was SOO bad. I was on a message board at UBI Soft and talked to one of the devs there and asked him if the final version will have as much tearing. He said no, there will be NO tearing. Obvioulsy that wasn't true. Granted the final version wasn't as bad as the demo, but still, there was tearing in pretty much every level. It really can be distracting and makes everything look like its not finished or polished. No matter how good things look, screen tearing is just so dissapointing to see.

My question is this, will PT have screen tearing also? Anyone on this board have a chance to play a early build or know of someone who did that can confirm screen tearing as being in or out?

One of the devs said that they had to turn off V-Sync (when it is on, it stops tearing) on some of the larger levels so it wouldn't cause framerate problems.

Now it would be nice if the game would support 720p or 1080i!

So your saying that there will yet again be tearing in PT?

I just asked the guy who has the game and he said he has only experienced tearing twice and that was when night-vision was on.

Dawg605, thanks for asking. Can you ask him if he noticed tearing A LOT in the first Splinter Cell? That way we will be able to judge if the tearing has gotten A LOT better.

Thanks.

dumb question, but what's this "tearing" you speak of?

What these buttons do?

It's when you're playing, it looks like that are lines going on the screen, hence "tearing".

^^ Its more then that, the whole screen flickers.

Someone posted a vid of them playing PT. He has the game somehow, its legit. But, I didn't notice any tearing from the short clip he showed.
